500 Words - Move Over Pixel Ads

Posted on June 23, 2006 07:13 PM by Joel Comm

Remember the pixel ad craze started by milliondollarhomepage.com last year? It was definitely a novelty that fuled a huge windfall for the owner of the site and a bit of notoriety for some of the sites that bought pixels.

However, there was ultimately no linking benefit to the sites that paid for the pixels.

Enter 500Words, a site that takes linking to the next level... one that should be of far greater interest to those seeking to actually get more traffic.

500 words allows you to select from the words displayed on the page and create a link to your website for a small fee. The words are all over the map and just about anyone should find a word they can claim as their very own word.

You can select the following parameters to make your word stand out on the page...

  • Small, medium, large or jumbo font size
  • Bold, italics, underline, overline
  • multiple colors
  • mouseover text that appears when the mouse is rolled over your word

Once a word is claimed, it is gone forever. That means words will go rather quickly!

This is a great idea which will undoubtedly catch the attention of many people who will then be clicking on sponsor links. And since the words link directly to sponsor sites, there may be a search engine benefit that image ads cannot provide.

      Hi Joel

Great idea! But don't you think that sites like 500words wil be regarded as spam in Google? There is no content - just links...

    2. Google Says:

It will never work...as google and other major search engines...do not add or ban site like 500words.com...to be in their indexing database. The site using this link sizzler will never be known unless you publize it like hell...by posting on high traffic sites manually !
