America Bless God

usaflag.gifThe 4th of July. Independence Day, 2004. Time to barbeque and enjoy fireworks with family. But how many of us pause to take in the true significance of this holiday? How many of us remember the freedoms that so many died for? How many recall the courage of our Founding Fathers who risked their very lives in order to follow that which God had called them to do?

America. A city on a hill where life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness exemplify the rights given us by our Creator. A country that has been blessed more than any other country in the history of the world. Yes, God HAS blessed America.

But are WE blessing God? Are the actions and attitudes of Americans those that would seek to honor Him for Who He is and for what He has done? 228 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, I fear that there is only a small remnant that truly recognizes where our blessings come from.

That's why I love this song, America Bless God. Written by Larry Harrison and Joel Mott, it captures the essense of a heart that longs to recognize God for His goodness, and seeks to bless Him instead of vice-versa.

You can download or stream the audio for this song here, and feel free to pass it on to others!
