Creative Sponsorships to Get Traffic and Branding

Posted on April 16, 2006 11:13 AM by Joel Comm

There are so many ways to promote business online. Adsense is a focus for me, because it has been so lucrative, and because there are so many businesses building their brand through the Adwords program.

What's very interesting is that there are entire worlds of promotion outside of the Adwords Pay Per Click model. "Sponsorship" type programs are one example, which can bring traffic to not only your web site, but to your brand, through the PR they create for your company. Golden Palace Casino, for example, has built one of the most successful online casinos, simply by bidding on odd items at eBay and elsewhere, and "sponsoring" people to do odd things to themselves!

I've recently come across a guy who is letting individuals and companies sponsor he and his girlfriend's climb of the tallest mountain in Africa. They're traveling to New York City, Washington D.C., Amsterdam, and finally, to Tanzania, Africa, where they will climb Mount Kilimanjaro. He's actually an AdSense Secrets reader :-)

They mention that they will take any company along, and will put a graphic/logo/whatever the company sends them in a prominent place on their travel gear. In addition, they're putting text links up to their sponsors from their web site, and they're putting a banner up for every company that wins in a banner rotation on the top of their web site.

There are only 97 sponsorships available, at $100/each, and the auction only lasts 10 days, so if you're interested, check it out.

100 bucks for three years worth of web links from a fairly well visited web site? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!
