Started the day in Dayton, Ohio. It really is getting hard to keep track of where we are at any given moment. The cities and hotels are becoming one big blur.
After breakfast and the daily schlep to the van, we went to the United States Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. There were two massive hangars of airplanes, including the original
Wright "B" Flyer flown by Wilbur and Orville Wright.
We saw replicas of the Sopwith Camel (made famous by Snoopy from Peanuts) as well as retired planes manufactured by Boeing, Lockheed, Martin and McDonell-Douglas, among others. There were hundreds of plans to view and they are building a third hangar to house to ever-growing collection. I wish we had more time to explore all there was to see.
Next, we went to see the Wright Memorial, basically a hunk of marble with a plaque, in a beautiful park with a grand view. Socrates enjoyed it best as he got to mark a bunch of new shrubs and trees.
Another long drive awaited us, so we hit the road after lunch. Destination: Cleveland. We pulled into the city around 7 pm, our total mileage for the trip passing 1250 miles. Over 25% of the driving is now behind us. I think we are on our fifth tank of gasoline and have driven over 24 hours. We will take in some sites tomorrow before leaving for Niagara Falls, NY, our first stop where we will have an extended stay. We are very much looking forward to that!

If you thought the Lincoln Memorial and Wright-Patterson were cool, just wait until you get to Washington, DC and see the Lincoln Monument and the new Air & Space Museum.
Great commentary so far. See you when you get back. Tonight is the Lord's Supper at the Sigler house, the flock has been praying and fasting today for the sick and for the troubled in our flock. We break fast tonight.

How sad that you missed the beauty Ohio has to offer! Cleveland may house the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame, but the state has much more beautiful drives to make your way to Niagra Falls from Dayton. Please note that I am forever an editor and that I scrutinize every jot and tittle you type : ) Glad you're having a great trip so far, and I look forward to hearing more about it.
Hugs to all! Pam

ok, Miss Nitpicker. It is Niagara, not Niagra. Haha. Glad you are keeping up with us!

i want to know why the city of Dayton has not named a street OR STRETCH OF HYWAY after JOE DESCH. THE MAN SAVED MORE LIVES IN WWII THAN WE CAN IMAGINE. AFTER READING HOW AND WHAT HE DID RIGHT HERE IN THIS COMMUNITY TO SHORTEN THE WAR I AM REALLY AMAZED AND ANGRY. WE HAVE STEETS NAMED AFTER MAYORS ETC. BUT NOT SOMEONE LIKE JOE DESCH.I WANT SOMEONE TO GIVE ME 1 GOOD REASON WHY THIS MAN HAS NOT BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A TRUE HERO OF WWII KARL KORDECKI
