Death by Oreo

Posted on May 15, 2003 12:38 AM by Joel Comm

It was touch and go early this week as the shocking news hit the wires. News so terrifying, so insidious, and so darned ridiculous that many were questioning whether or not the pod people had taken over.

Of course, I am speaking Stephen Joseph, the moron (re: attorney) in San Francisco (where else?) who filed to BAN Oreo cookies in California. Why? He said the popular cookie contains a life-threatening compound called trans fat. EEEEEEK! Run! Head for the hills! Women and children first!

Thankfully, the suit was dropped before Kraft Foods was even served. Mr. Joseph said that he only wanted to bring attention to the danger in the black and white killer cookie. Now the whole world knows about trans fat. Oh, and the world also knows what a maroon Stephen Joseph is. No doubt this was a successful publicity stunt. But I wonder if family and friends were so embarrassed by his actions that they compelled him to withdraw the suit. The grinch who stole oreos...

Have you tried the new Uh-Oh Oreos? They sure look tempting...
