In an unprecented political maneuver, Senate Democrats invoked "rule 21", overriding the Republican majority and sending the Sentate into a closed door session, purportedly to discuss pre-war intelligence.
Nonsense.
The Democrat leadership is all in a huff because they are becoming less significant with each passing day.
They wanted Karl Rove's head. They got "Scooter" Libby. And the American people have yawned.
They wanted another liberal activist judge. Bush has nominated a true conservative in the tradition of Scalia and Thomas. The Pro-abortion crowd is trembling in their boots.
This political stunt will backfire, just like everything else the Democrat leadership has tried to do to bring down Bush.
And 2006 will be another Republican landslide.

Rule 21 is not unprecedented...it simply hasn't been used in the last two decades. The rule is there to safeguard our democracy from the "tyranny of the majority".
Read the treatise by John Stuart Mill "On Liberty" written in 1859 regarding freedom. The rule in the Senate has been in existence since the 18th century and was provided for a reason.
And if you think that the reason for this occasion isn't important enough, what is??? According to President Bush (the elder), such an act of revealing the identity of a CIA agent was "Treason".
I should have made it more clear about what was unprecedented... the fact that the democrats pulled this stunt without speaking with the majority leadership was childish and disrespectful. Treason? Please... this whole thing with Joe Wilson is ridiculous... I stand by what I said. Democrats are in the wrong and they haven't a leg to stand on. So what else is new?

I think trying to railroad a president about his sexual exploits was ridiculus. But the republicans tried to convict our previous president through the impeachment process, which should be reserved for more severe acts. I am sure the nation's founding fathers were rolling in their graves over that one. But fortunately, the Republicans failed, and justice prevailed in that one.
DK is right, neither party is made up of saints. We as a whole nation need to get a grip on how the ultra-right wing of the Republican party is attempting to pervert the US Constitution and all the principles upon which this great nation was founded.
Desperately trying to manufacture something to bring down this President is laughable. Somehow attempting to connect today's liberal leadership to the principals our nation was founded on is downright laughable.
Libby says he is innocent. And the American public could care less, in spite of Democrat's hopes and wishes. But we'll see how it washes out in the long run. I suspect the liberals will keep wringing their hands as their deception continues to be exposed.

Steve, that is just the TIP of the iceberg. There is more than enough treason, corruption and downright evil in the liberal wing of the democrat party to strangle our country. Are Republicans perfect? Far from it. And where it not for the RINOs in congress (Republicans in Name Only), we would have far more conservative legislation pass and become law. And there would be hope for our country.

Amazing!!! The more people use reason and enlightened thinking to counter your complaints, the more emotionally driven gibberish you attempt to toss out as substantial statements. But then I guess the real reason to have a blog online is to be able to write all the unsupported and unsupportable nonsense you want without being truly accountable for what you have to say. Hopefully no one will ever confuse a blog with "news" or unmistakened fact.
Of course these blogs do create a lot of unnecessary clutter for those who attempt to use the internet as a source for finding the "real stuff" to illuminate the answers to questions. Opinion is fine as long as it isn't confused with fact. But fiction can never serve as a substitute for reality.
By the way, no one needs to make anything up about Dubya. He provides plenty of material without any help.
