Domain Name Fun

Posted on February 9, 2004 02:38 PM by Joel Comm

I've been dabbling with the domain name industry recently. Back in the Internet boom, people were buying up domain names and reselling them for a bucketload of cash. After the bubble burst, domains weren't worth what they used to be. However, they are coming back with a vengeance. A few weeks back, some guy sold "mens.com" for over a million bucks. That links takes you to a story. I don't recommend going to men.com though. It's just another porn site. :-(

Nevertheless, perhaps the domain name industry is ripe for a ride up?

I have been developing a couple sites. You can register domains for $7.99 at DomainAnything.com. And in a couple weeks, I'll be launching a service called DomainsHourly.com. It is a subscription-based site that sends an hourly email containing the latest .com, .net and .org domain names to expire for lack of renewal. This is a GREAT way to find the domain name that you always wanted. More on this as I get closer to putting it online.

Here are a few domains that I picked up in hopes of reselling them someday:

  • preamble.us
  • jumboauctions.com
  • go2chat.com
  • mydad.org
  • asks.us
  • buyclothes.org

I'll report back when the new site is launched.+
