Yesterday I posted a video of my brother-in-law's legendary karaoke performance.
Many have asked if I was going to post my performance.
Being a high-profile marketer, I should no better than to do that. After all, why would I want people to see how badly I sing?
But I thought about it and decided that transparency is a good thing. In fact, the more you share your life with your customers, the more they have an opportunity to like you. Hopefully, this will endear people to me and I won't get a barrage of emails asking for refunds. ;-)
So what the heck. If I could sing for a couple hundred total strangers in a cruise ship lounge, why shouldn't you get to enjoy it as well?
After all, If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at.
So laugh if you want. I know I did. :-)

Bro on my honeymoon I sang Bon Jovi "Wanted Dead or Alive" and got an awesome standing ovation. I just told the crowd that I just got married and if I sucked they still had to clap for me. It was a blast.

In today's fast-moving, speed-to-market business environment, transparency is key. Or, at least a big part of it.
As we only still have our first, original site built (still working on the 1300+ others), I let people see who we are. Whether it's my facebook profile http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1130111064&ref=profile#/profile.php?id=1130111064&ref=profile or e-mail me directly from our site, I let people see who I really am.
What gets me mad as all get out is when you buy a product, and need to submit a support ticket when you can directly contact the principle of the business. Don't worry, this is not about you, but just a lesson is practical customer service. Why can't business owners reply when you contacted them directly? That's just poor management. It takes the concept of the "Four Hour Work Week" to a whole new level.
It's a shame that some people need to hide behind layers of "red tape". Sometimes it is a support ticket, which is a useful tool- to some extent. But when owners get contacted directly and they do not respond? That's when I feel like outing them: their name, products, and services.
Love to know how your readers feel if they have ever been in the same situation.
