Editors are newspapers, radio shows and television programs are human beings, just like the rest of us.
They have deadlines to meet and a never-ending stream of work they must do in order to deliver newsworthy content to the public.
You can imagine how difficult it must be for them to find quality sources for stories on a regular basis!
But the fact of the matter is that there are thousands of experts available to discuss any number of topics at the drop of a hat. The problem is that the journalists don'tknow where to find these experts.
And as an expert, it's often difficult to connect with the journalist that I would like to speak with.
That's why we're seeing more sites pop up which connect experts with journalists.
The newest entry into this field comes from a long-established PR firm in New York, Wasabi Publicity.
Their new site, PitchRate.com is designed to connect experts with journalists using a straightforward online tool.
Simply fill out information about yourself and your expertise, and then watch your email for possible stories that would like to hear your pitch.
It's free to sign up, so I took advantage of it right away. The quality of leads that have come my way have made it totally worthwhile.
Here's a sample of the kinds of requests that have come my way.

Whether you are a journalist or an expert, signing up is a no-brainer and completely worth your time.

Thanks Joel,
That will be quite helpful to me regarding my new products publicity.

I am signed up a newsletter which emails me things like this.
Although nothing has really interested me yet.
\ If I am interested in this particular area of a huge subject and I only want to know about this area instead of the entire scope, will I be able to filter out very specific stuff?
Joel, this looks like a brilliant idea. My partner used to host a breakfast radio program (news, views etc, not pop/rock), and often had to find someone to speak with authority on topics of the day - at 5.30am. It's why great radio producers/broadcasters have little black addressbooks full of private lines, cell phone numbers etc of people who don't mind being rung before breakfast for a quote!
