Whenever I do teleseminars and publicly speak, I tell people that we are entering a new age of the Internet. Internet v1.0 was the beginning of the web. Money was tossed about like confetti as venture capitalist waved millions of Benjamins at anything with a dotcom for a suffix.
Then the bubble burst.
Enter Internet v2.0.
Consolidation. Bankruptcy. Layoffs. Out with the much of the old... in with the new.
It took several years, but during this period (2001-2003), the Internet began getting back on its feet.
Good business models survived and became better. New business models surfaced.
Google launched the AdSense contextual advertising program and revolutionized opportunities to generate revenue online.
In the meantime, MSN (Microsoft's search site), struggled along as a distant third to Google and Yahoo!
That's about the change.
The gauntlet was tossed down today as Amazon.com ditched Google for their A9.com search site in favor of MSN search.
Game on, ladies and gentlemen.
Internet v3.0 has arrived...
