Google Knows What I Need

Posted on February 10, 2007 03:07 PM by Joel Comm

Let's face it.

Google's AdSense program is absolutely ingenious.

It's not perfect, but it is ingenious.

Occasionally, an ad will display that is not relevant to the content on the page. But more often than not, the AdSense bot knows what ads to show.

This was never truer than the ad I saw displayed on my blog entry from yesterday.

I wrote about the clutter in my life, and how I am surrounded by "stuff" after my recent move to Colorado.

So I loaded up that page today to read some of the comments left by my readers, and I had to laugh at the incredible targeting of the image ad that displayed.

LOL! It doesn't get any better than that!

Actually, I am the target market for that advertiser... but I don't dare click on my own AdSense ads! That would be violation of the highest order. :-)

It is this very reason that Yahoo! has been unable to catch Google in this space. Their ad targeting is fantastic, and relevant ads generate more clicks. More clicks equals more cash for you, the AdSense publisher.

Thank you, Google!

I am glad your move has gone well. It does help to have professional movers do the job. Last twice I moved I had to do it myself in a rent-a-van. The only way I could afford it as an Adsense Novice. Still, one day....eh?

I have to stop reading these adsense blogs and start creating great content ;-)
