Hope

Posted on April 8, 2007 08:41 AM by Joel Comm

Easter morning.

New beginnings.

A reminder that although the world seems somewhat messy, there is hope.

I must confess. I enjoy marshmallow peeps, coloring easter eggs and baskets filled with goodies.

But the Western world's twist on Easter is not what it is really about any more than Santa Claus has anything to do with Christmas.

No, Easter means much more.

Whether you are a Christian or not, the message of Easter is really about one thing... and one thing only.

There is hope.

And it is a reminder that the day-to-day stuff we deal with is just temporal. We're all here a short time and then...

Well, I look at myself in the mirror and say, "Am I really getting ready to turn 43?"

I don't think I look like it. I know I don't feel like it.

Wasn't I just sixteen years old and buying my first PC?

Didn't I just have my first child?

Am I crazy, or is that first child getting ready to drive?!?!

Time does fly, no matter how cliche it seems.

And while our pursuit of success (whatever that means to you) is a good thing, it is also good to keep our feet on the ground and remember that while we chart our paths as individuals, in many ways...

... we are all the same.

We are all in need of hope.

As I write this message, my family is getting ready to go to church, so I best get ready as well.

Whether you share my faith or not, it is my hope that you find hope and peace in the message of Easter. :-)

Hope is as hollow as fear. Live in the present; you don't need either.

    Thanks Joel.
I am christian (not catholic)and I think that the most wonderful thing was made in the world was that:

One day Jesus, the Son of God, died for us, and with his blood, He openned the Heaven`s door, and whosoever believe in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God bless you and your family.

  4. Phil Says:

Yes, we have Hope because we have a risen Christ. Without that we would have no Hope.

Hi Joel, I appreciate your post. I am a student pastor that does a little internet marketing on the side. It's refreshing to know that a high-profile entrepreneur like yourself is using his platform to share what's most important in life. I'm one of your subscribers and I know when I read your emails that I am receiving information that is honest and sincere. Thanks.

Thanks for you positive messages Joel.I am a believer also and Easter at our house has been fantastic.Watching my 4yo son play and eat easter eggs with his 2yo sister has been great.
I am a subscriber to your monthly templates program and although my knowledge of business and advertising is in shape, i am really struggling with the tech aspects of website building so i should probably drop your help desk a line.
    God Bless

Joel, thanks again for your post. While in church this morning, I also thought that hope is a basic issue in many realms, but we Christians have also joy because of our Hope.

I have just watched The Passion of Christ and I logged on to receive your email abour Hope - I am a muslim and a mother and for a moment I was swept into suspended animation as I watched a mother witness the profound suffering of her Son Jesus - and as a Mother I feel deeply for all people from all walks of life who have to endure suffering. As a Muslim I pray and hope that my neighbour (whether black, white, christian, muslim , Hindu or any relgion) is happy with me - then I know that firstly I am a good human being - then I can be a good muslim - my hope is that more people first try try to be good human beings - then apply that philosphy as a way of life - that is what religion is all about.

    My father taught me that.

greetings of peace & hope to you all.
    Angela

Joel...thanks for the email. You are so right. Without hope we have nothing. You made my Easter Sunday...great to see an email with the right perspective on life and what is really important and that's Jesus Christ and what he did for all of us. Yes, He lives!
    He is our only Hope.

  13. Paul O'Hara Says:

Thanks for the great Easer message, Joel. I've always thought that you were a straight shooter and respected your opinions and info. Now I know. But... turning 43? Sheesh. It's all a matter of perspective. I'm about to turn 66!! As I said to my son last week: man, that's a big number. Still, if I didn't have hope, both for this life and the next, I probably wouldn't even get out of bed. Hope keeps us going, gets us over the bumps, makes us strong. Pray for the hopeless. Thanks again for reminding us.
