Ebooks are nothing new. I've been writing and selling them for over seven years. There's no question that there is a lot of money to be made with ebooks.
However, some marketers are hyping up the ebook craze beyond what is reasonably attainable for many people.
It's true that the rise of the Kindle, iPad and Nook are making publishing more accessible for anyone who wants to get their work distributed. In fact, if there is one thing that I can say for sure it is that digital books are here to stay.
So what about the hype related to publishing your own ebook? Do you really need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to learn how to do this? Many of you would be happy to make a few hundred dollars each month, right?
I've got good news for you, and I'm asking for your feedback.
You see, I've been selling books on Amazon.com's publishing platform since they opened it. I've sold thousands of ebooks and make thousands of dollars. I know how to do it and I can teach you.
However, many of my readers don't want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on expensive courses. That's understandable.
What if I could teach you what you need to know to get started with publishing your book and selling it on Amazon.com for under $20?
What if this information could provide you with what you need to set a very realistic goal of making an extra $100, $250, $500 or $1000/month?
You may want to write fiction. It could be a novel or short stories. Perhaps you are an expert in cooking, weight loss or parenting. Regardless of your subject matter and writing style, it's likely that you could turn your work into cash with little effort. You just need to know how to do it without all the fluff and expensive investment.
So here's what I am going to do. I require your feedback.
If I get enough response from people saying that they would pay no more than $20 for me to teach you what I know, I will get an ebook put together in the next few weeks.
How do I know if you are interested? SImply comment on this blog below. You can just say "I'm interested." You could tell me how eager you are to get started. You can ask questions, make comments... whatever.
If there isn't enough interest, I won't bother. But what I've gathered from many of you is that you want to publish for Kindle, iPad and Nook, and you want to make some extra money selling your books. You just don't know how.
This is your opportunity. If you would be interested in picking my brain to learn how to publish your own creative works and how to sell them on Amazon.com, leave a comment below and let me know.
I'm doing this for all the small publishers who want to do this but don't have the time or money to invest a lot. You know that I have a skill for making complex things understandable. This guide would be no different.

I'm interested - here are some thoughts:
1. Would really like 'low-fat' content. Forget about selling me on the idea of why eBooks, Amazon, and all that - I get it. Don't spend any time doing that. Just give me the details.
2. Need more step by step than I can get by just opening an account at CreateSpace. There is a lot out there on doing this that you can get via Google. That's okay - I'm happy to spend a few bucks if you'll pull it together, keep it lean, relevant, and give me some of the secret sauce you've developed. Don't expect you to re-invent the wheel - just help us get going as quickly as possible.
3. Keep it targeted to an audience that is already 'Internet Savvy'. If you try to develop content for people who are just figuring out email, searching on Google and what is PayPal, you'll lose those who are ready to run and chances are, this group has much more to learn before they are ready for eBooks and may not benefit from the more detailed info anyway.
I've invested in some how-to courses that are simply way too basic in the intro.

I was almost falling into the trap of one of them recently, but was luckily awaken by the reviews he got on Amazon during his so called "Kindle Challenge" trial. So glad I didn't buy from him and in a way quite sad I did buy from his # 1 affiliate marketer (someone you probably know very well) a program the cost me over 2 grand.
I cannot but keep thinking that the only marketer I truly admire and respect is you Joel. You are honest and whatever you teach is invaluable and worth every penny. I've got your book here on my shelf in Italy and purchased lots of your products. Always happy about it.
I recently bought a few books on Kindle which may help beginners like me to publish on such platform;

Here is a brief preface I've started:
Do these statics shock you: about 2.2 million people search for the keywords “home business” every month according to Google Adwords Search Tool.
Only 750 people search for “home business education.”
Can you see a titanic size problem when only 1 person out of 3000 will stop, look and listen and 2999 people rush headfirst into a network marketing home business without learning the basic blueprint before building a “dream business?”
The main concern, of course, is that it looks like people are making critical business decisions based on incorrect information which is as fallible as making critical health decisions based on flawed diagnostic tools or programs.
It is time to stop the insanity with current programs that expect people with no business backgrounds to act, mentor and succeed like their executive-skilled sponsors. No proper study or venture of any kind could survive with such a disservice where lack of education allows honest, hard-working people to be taken advantage of and be prone to failure. What else can be expected?
There is a hungry marketplace in uncertain economic times that needs better directions and manage better decisions for home-based businesses in the network marketing industry. People need to learn to protect themselves from hyped programs by self-appointed gurus that falsely capitalize on this industry build for average people with above average dreams. People are failing to apply basic building blocks and suffer loss and frustration when simple steps can improve their considerable success.
Can you see a huge need for a book that provides a wide generic overview of what works and what to avoid like the giant overload of information more impassable than an iceberg? Network marketing is the only option where three fundamental concepts make it a fair and democratic home business for every family. It means focusing on what average networkers can do. It means returning to basics. The tragedy is when good people miss or dismiss this opportunity because of misinformation or lack of education.
Being a customer of one of the recent products on publishing on kindle I´d be very interested to learn how YOU teach this topic.

There is so much info out there on publishing ebooks now adays. All you need to do is start searching. I published 3 already and have plans for about 20 more -non fiction.
Just start googling and reading.

Yes, I'd be interested. I have 4 books completed, two of which I've been selling successfully for several years, one as an e-book and printed book, the other as an e-book. I'm getting ready to get them all up on CreateSpace as printed books. However, I'd also like to get them on Kindle. There doesn't seem to be a single reference that explains the best way to do it. I don't want to have to buy expensive conversion software that is complicated to use. Can I include pictures? Links? How do I do a table of contents? What font should I use? What are the commonly encountered problems and what are the solutions?

I am presently just finishing a book for kindle etc publication so yes I will buy the information at that price. I have purchased other web material from you and have always been satisfied. I also have a list of books I would like to write for this market. I have the information in hand but have not done the research required on the kindle as to how and what is best to publish etc. I have read some stuff from the warrior forum but most has to be refunded because it is junk. I would pay $100 to go to a website that is click-paste-push button that does it all for me.
Lets say I have 500+ word publication - I go to this site and it has all the steps needed, in fill in the blank style interface. When everything is filled out, a preview can be seen or downloaded and then... (drumroll...) the PUBLISH IT button is pushed and it is sent into the Kindle ethernet for the publishing process. I would even pay $100 for every book I needed to process...

I love it -- all of us are already part of the book! (chapter 5 or 6, I would guess).
Some chapters on the nitty-gritty of physically how to get your book onto an e-book platform would be great. After that, a step by step on how to market the book would be ideal (social media campaign, expert status, positive reviews, etc.). Not so much on outsourcing, keeping your chin up in hard times, etc.

It is one thing to write a book (any specific Kindle technicalities aside) - but it is quite another to market it.
I know Amazon do some of it, but I doubt whether one can rely on that.

Hi, Joel. I'm definitely interested in this topic. I'm also interested in helping writers by reviewing their manuscripts for grammar, readability, and general clarity of thought. I've found that many people who publish to the web, whether it's a blog or a book, often don't realize that their writing is unclear and confused (not to mention full of spelling errors, etc.) This is a real turn-off, and it gives a poor impression of the writer. Perhaps this will be the subject of my ebook!

I have my first book available for sale on Amazon Kindle, Create Space, Lulu and Barnes and Nobel. I have given away over 373 free copies of my book and so far, I have gotten no reviews or sales of my book. If I can learn how to actually SELL my book I will be willing to buy that information for $20.
Do it, Joel, and do it right. Forget the $20 price point. Make it a Kindle book, and price it at $4.99 (same price as the two excellent books by David Gaughran and Michael Alvear on this topic). Run a five-day free giveaway through KDP Select. Invite everyone who has already commented on this post to download it, recommend it to their friends, and give it an honest review on Amazon. You'll get hundreds if not thousands of downloads in less than a week. Then switch it back to "paid" and ask us all keep sharing and recommending it. Show those dudes in Austin (you know the ones I mean) that quality content can beat IM hype any day of the week.

I hardly think my one comment will matter in this long list. However, I would love to see what you have to say. I already have a book written and designed. (I am a professional graphic designer.) I don't know how to publish my work, however. I am not able much more than $20. If it goes up to $40, I will have to think about it.
