How to Profit from eBay Without Selling Anything

Posted on June 28, 2007 12:00 AM by Joel Comm

Recently, I told you that I was pulling out of the Bookwise program. It looked like a good opportunity -- it still does look like a good opportunity -- but when they objected to the domain name I was using to profit from it, I decided to leave.

One door closes... and another one opens.

I've been playing around with AuctionAds, and I have to say, I've been very impressed.

AuctionAds lets you put eBay ads on your website. You can put as many units as you want on a page, optimize them and even choose the keywords for each unit so that you get ads that match your content.

For anyone with a website that discusses products, it's a perfect match. And even if your site doesn't discuss products, some clever sales selection should still bring you some useful revenue on top of your AdSense earnings.

If you are going to use AuctionAds though (and unlike Bookwise now, I do recommend it!), remember that in addition to choosing the keywords, you can also choose the minimum and maximum price for the items that appear in your ads.

To set the minimum price, you put "minprice:x" in the keyword field; to set the maximum price, you put"maxprice:x" in the keyword field.

That provides you with a whole new variable to play with...

Not the price of the product, although it will obviously affect that!

I'm talking about the timing of the auction.

The reason that you can set the price range for your AuctionAds units is that the price changes as the sale progresses. And it changes most towards the end of the sale.

Being able not just to choose which auction to advertise but the stage of the auction in which you want bring in users is a great help. I know I'm going to have a lot of fun -- and I'm sure that I'm going to make a lot of money -- figuring out the best time to put a sale in front of my users.

I hope you do too.

I have just finished writing a brand new report on how you can make money with Auction Ads.

It's called...

    Hi Joel,

I've spent many hours inside AuctionAds, but I still cannot make the preview display ads the way you mention in your book. I dont think AuctionAds is so high tech yet...

Setting a minprice doesnt do anything. I tested and set a minprice of $30 for a test product...yet it still shows $5 products.

At least thats how the preview shows...and it never obeys any strings except the first keyword.
