By now you may be wondering if I have completely lost my mind.
I did. But I found it.
The question is… have I lost it again?
You might be saying, “Joel, clearly you aren’t ten years old.” (Though my maturity level may occasionally bring this assertion into question.)
You also might be saying, “Joel, you just wrote the other day that you turned forty-nine… that’s a long way from ten!”
And then you might say, “What’s the deal, bub?”
Those are all good questions. And I’ve got a really good answer…
Today is the tenth anniversary of my blog! Wheeeee!
Yes, it was just ten short years ago that I launched JoelComm.com.
Armed with a copy of Movable Type (soon to be replaced with WordPress… finally…), a desire to write and no clue what I would write about, my first entry was on May 7, 2003.
Since Movable Type didn’t come equipped with the standard “Hello World” post that WordPress users around the world have made the most popular post on the web, I was forced to pen my own stroke of genius.
As far as design of my blog, this is what it actually looked like throughout the years. The images that follow are courtesy of the Internet Wayback Machine, otherwise known as Archive.org. Please forgive any broken or missing elements within the screen shots. These pages don’t really exist any longer.
That’s some pretty advanced design, huh?
For the first year or so, I blogged about family, software, politics, travel and our dog. It wasn’t until my AdSense ebook became popular that I began blogging more on business.
As I began sharing my knowledge and experience, the blog took on a more professional design. This is 2006.
The Next Internet Millionaire launched and I kicked it up a notch in 2007.
I guess I changed my design as often as I changed my shirts. Here I am again in 2008.
As I went into my hibernation period in 2011, I came up with a new look foretelling what was to come next.
I’ve written just a few words over the years. From my experiences with Arbonne and American Airlines to essays critical of the Internet marketing world; from my travel and family experiences to sharing the best wisdom I have accumulated and opening up to my personal life, my little blogging shack has become a high rise with many stories within.
Yes, it’s been ten years of blogging. That amounts to 2053 articles, 22189 comments and millions of page views. Wow, what a ride.
And as you might suppose, once again it is time for a new look.
As I am re-launching my career and being reinvented, I hired Matt Clark at Tweetpages.com to help with this new look.
Here is the first sneak peak I can provide of the new JoelComm.com.
I’m excited to get this blog moved over to WordPress and enjoy the flexibility that the platform offers. For me, it means a smoother interface with greater ability to interact with you and your comments.
I hope to have the new blog up this month.
In the meantime, what is a birthday celebration without presents?
Only I am not expecting gifts from you. Rather, I have a gift FOR you!
I am presently working on bringing my best-selling AdSense Secrets ebook up to date. The most recent edition is for sale at AdSense-Secrets.com, and it sells for $27.
