Jumping the Shark

Posted on September 3, 2003 01:12 PM by Joel Comm

Named after the episode of Happy Days where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis, Jump the Shark is a guilty pleasure that can consume many hours of your time. The term refers to an exact moment in time where a television show took a turn for the worse.

Reminisce with others who think Seinfeld was perfect up until the very last episode. Disagree with others who think the Brady Bunch went downhill after Cousin Oliver joined the staff. Laugh at those who believe that Survivor has yet to jump the shark.

Find your favorite show and see what you think. It's a great deal of fun.

I've seen Jump the Shark before. Pretty cool, esecially when you think back and say, "Ya, it sure was the pits after that happened."

Will 8 Simple Rules jump the shark this fall?
