There are so many ways of monetizing a website these days that it can all get a bit overwhelming. How can you tell which ads would best match your content and which system you should be using to squeeze the most out of your pages?
The simple answer is that you should be using as many of the online revenue systems available as you can.
AdSense is certainly the best way of monetizing a website, but it's not the only one. Nor is it the only one I use. The best strategy is to have different ways of making money so that you're getting paid for impressions, for ad clicks and for affiliate purchases at the same time, to name just three.
Obviously, the greater the variety of ways your site has to earn, the more likely it is to make money.
The danger though is that you'll be so overwhelmed that you won't do anything. That would be a big mistake.
It takes time to became a master of even one revenue system so don't wait until you're a master of all them before you create your online publishing business. It will never happen.
Start with AdSense and optimize it to match your site. It's the easiest place to begin.
And once you've got your first AdSense check, you'll be hooked.
You can then move onto ads that pay per impression and start looking for affiliate products to promote on your site.
That will give you three different revenue streams and your site a firm foundation.
From there, and with the money coming in at a steady stream, you'll be able to branch out into all of the other systems that I mentioned earlier.
Building an online publishing business is a never-ending learning process. The best way to learn though... is by doing it.
