Monday morning

And so much to do... I just got off the treadmill. It's my goal to dump 20 pounds over the next 8 weeks. I guess I am keeping myself accountable by announcing that here. How will I do it? No special diet. No special pills. It's going to take self-discipline. Basically, eat less and exercise more. And it will take a little divine intervention as well, because I've got a sweet tooth as big as Rhode Island.

I clocked in at 195 pounds this morning. So we're looking at 175 pounds by July 12th. Anyone think I can do it? How about you? If you need to lose weight and want to set a goal along with me, leave a comment.

When you say exercise, are you talking about just walking/running on the treadmill? You can drop 20 pounds in 4 weeks if you throw in some weight training as well.

    Hi Joel,
Actually, you shouldn't just be eating less. You should be eating properly. I am on a personal journey to lose fat, not just weight. So, I'll be following your Blog :)
And YES we CAN do this!!!

  3. Camilla Says:

Hi - you can do it! I just started the Atkins diet a week ago thursday and have lost 6 lbs and have been eating well! Check out www.atkins.com for the details I was at 186 and would like to drop 30 by August so I can work on my 6th baby!

Joel, you can do it buddy! But what sort of things are you eating now? I keep myself on a low carb diet, and try to eat low fat and no sugar as much as possible. Also servings sizes should be no larger than the inner palm of your hand. I am not fanantical about it but I try to stick by it as much as possible. I basically go by the Diabetic and Heart Healthy Diet. I find I can eat all I want of veggies, fruits, omega oils like in fish, and still fill full and not deprived. I also work out 3x week, 3 hrs. each workout session. That includes walking, bicycling, and an hour in the weight room on various machines and equipment. Also, drink LOTS of water; it flushes all the toxins and helps you lose weight faster. Plus all your muscles and organs work better and smoother with plenty of water. You also won't get as sore from your workouts if you keep yourself hydrated. So anyway, hope some of these tips might help out, and I wish you the best! My goal was 30 lbs. in 4 months and I have lost my first 10, but I took it slow and it took me three months just to lose and maintain that 10 lbs. The trainer at the gym also said as you lose fat, you gain muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so sometimes you actually gain a lb. or two but lose inches! Cool, huh!?............I will be watching and keeping an eye out for you!......wish me luck also!..........LaDonna

Hey Joel! Good luck on your weight loss journey! I am traveling along with you on this :) I have been doing the Atkin's diet, Stacker 2's (I know they aren't the best) and walking 4 miles a day for the past month to prepare for my wedding in 3 weeks! I have lost approximiately 20 lbs and hope to lose another 20 by the wedding. Some people say I'm nuts but in reality, I am just determined :) Once again, good luck!!!

  7. Jim Says:

    Hey Joel,

What are you, NUTS? Don't do it. If you succeed my wife will make me do the same thing. Men around the world will be in agony just because you were crazy enough to set this goal. Oh No!! I can hear it now. She'll say, "See, I told you it could be done. Now put down the Krispy Kreme and get to the gym."

Well, maybe I would feel better if I dropped a couple of pounds. I guess I should use that membership at the gym. Hmmmm... Now that you mention it, I might even encourage some of my fat friends to join me.

    Good Luck......

    Jim

just to let all u know, swimming is great exercise, u can eat practically anything u want and still lose weight u just gotta swim at least 4 times a week, is what i did, and at least an hour a day, i lost a lot more weight doing that then i did running or anything else. and the best part of all is that u still can eat. but i guess everyones body is different. but if u dont wanna give up ur food, u can at least try this before going to something drastic. and swimming is so much fun, anyways, thanks for reading this!

I teach at Willowridge High School, Fortbend ISD. We are located in "no man's land". We need some type of school lighting in front of our school. The city of Houston says "HISD does not put lights in front of High Schools. If you would park on Chimney Rock Between 7am and 7:45 on a school morning, you would see what I mean. I have paper work to show how people in Fortbend and Houston has continued to turn it's back on students at the High school level after protecting them all thru elementary and Middle school. Can we get some help, Mayor White?

  13. Danni Says:

Swim; it's the best, and you lose the most weight in the shortest amount of time. However, an hour a day is NOT necessary; you can do 45 min. a day, if possible.
