My Best Day Ever

Posted on March 7, 2008 5:30 AM by Joel Comm

Wow, what an incredible day!

Wait until you hear this.

I thought it was going to be a day like every other day.

But you never know what kind of curve balls life is going to toss your way.

Here's how it started...

First of all I wake up and find this email in my box from a producer at a MAJOR cable network ...

"Congratulations on your show, 'The Next Internet Millionaire.' We've reviewed your first season and would like to speak with you about coming to Los Angeles to shoot season #2. Please contact me at xxx-xxx-xxxx as soon as possible to discuss possibilities."

Wow!

Then, I get to the office and I get a phone call from one of the country's leading motivational speakers. He wants to speak with ME about presenting a keynote speech at an upcoming conference where over 4000 people will be attending!

Double wow!

And if that isn't enough, I get an email from my publisher telling me that pre-orders for my next book are already at best-seller levels and that the book is going to fly off the charts!

Triple wow!

And then it happened. Just when I thought everything was falling into place...

It happened.

What could possibly change the outcome of this spectacular day?

Simple.

I woke up from my sleep.

Bummer.

It was all just a dream.

But what a GREAT dream!

And here's the thing.

These are dreams that I really do have in my waking state. I like to think BIG. And I like to do things that others have not done before.

What you don't know are my motivations for dreaming so big.

It's not about the money.

Sure, having money is better than NOT having money, but it's not about the money.

It's about what you can DO with the money.

And I'm not talking about bigger houses, faster cars or more gadgets.

I'm talking about investing in something far more valuable than these things.

I'm talking about investiing in people.

I'm talking about making a difference in someone else's life.

Will my dreams ever come true as stated above?

I hope so. I don't think you can ever stop dreaming.

But even if they don't come true as hoped, I consider myself blessed for all the dreams that have already come true in my life!

How about you?

Admit it.

You have big dreams, too.

Those big dreams can push you to do things you didn't think you were capable of.

Those big dreams can provide you with motivation to live like never before.

And those big dreams are the very things that can give you purpose and a reason to succeed that goes way beyond monetary gain.

This is the stuff that real life is made of!

But you MUST be aware of something.

When you dream big, there will always be envious people who will try to squash your dreams.

They will tell you that your dreams are ridiculous.

They will tell you that you can't accomplish your dreams.

They will try to steal your hope and push you down until you feel flatter than a pancake.

And the saddest thing is that these are often people who are close to you.

Don't listen to them.

It's envy, pure and simple.

It's the playground bully who will push you down in order to make themselves feel bigger.

It's the person who doesn't believe in his or herself enough to pursue their own big dreams.

It's the person who has tried, failed and wants you to fail as well.

I repeat, don't listen to these people.

Pursue your big dream with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, because THIS is what you were made to do!

It's my hope that you are inspired to dream big and live your life today.

May all your dreams come true...

Now, I've got to get back to work... and dream :-)

I invite you to post your thoughts and comments below.

Well you had me excited with each wonderful piece of news I read, and boy, was that a powerful stop with those words "I woke up from my sleep."

But I couldn't agree with you more when you just continued on after your dream and you had such a great encouraging message of persevering and pushing past the naysayers, YES there are alot of those..and YES usually close...

Thank you for the words of wisdom. When you hear similar experiences from someone else other than yourself, it really helps you push on....

Thank you.

Joel, I thought the first bit was AWESOME - and then I read the second half of your post... and think it's even MORE awesome than the first!

Thank you for being you.

I blogged about something similar recently:

STOP with the stupid scare tactics!
http://moneypowerwisdom.com/stop-with-the-stupid-scare-tactics/

And yes, I don't stop dreaming - or let anyone else 'steal my dreams'

All success

I'm glad to finally see
others dream like me
Think of how I'd feel
When those dreams are real!

Thanks, Joel.
That really helped me.
Sometimes chasing success and not
catching it can be a real depressing thing.
I'm glad we can escape and feel better!

I love seeing one of the good guy's crank a home run.

HA... I hope your dreams come true! :) lol

Hey Joel! It was so awesome to get a chance to participate in even a small way in the production of your show this past summer. I had the chance to observe you and your family as one of your dreams, on the way to other dreams, the very production of the Next Internet Millionaire, became reality.

It's interesting that there are portions of our dreams that we are required to accomplish so another portion of our dreams can occur. Sometimes the realization of a dream can seem so far off that we fail to begin our own part of it.

Thanks for reminding us of the importance of dreaming. Oh oh, I've got some work to do on my dreaming...gotta get that first cup of coffee...find my snuggly slippers and the chair that looks out on the meadow and the local deer...and relax and dream this morning, discussing with the Dream-Giver which part of the accomplishment of the dream is mine and which is His. Then I'll be ready to get back to my office and put some action behind it all...Got a great day ahead!

Hi Joel,

I see each of those actions happening in your life. I'm not talking about positive affirmations, although you need those. You've worked hard for big payoffs and they come to you.

Ha Ha - Excellent post, Joel. Funny as all.

Funny you should mention, a couple nights ago I woke myself up with a loud "Hello Joel!" to you in my dream.

Upon awakening the next morning, I had thought my nocturnal outburst was mine alone to remember.

But last night, as my wife and I were getting ready for bed, she said dryly, "If you should see anyone you know tonight, just wave."

Hi Joel,

Very inspirational! KUDOS to you Joe! Thank you for reminding us that there are possibilities in life... whatever situation we are right now...

Thanks Joe and keep up those wonderful works!

Ubi

Weird, I had that same dream last night!

Adam

Hey Joel,
It's clear you understand the laws of the universe. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - dreaming big and thinking big allows you to manifest those things and bring them into material possession with your thoughts. Keep dreaming dude, I would love to see NIM on a major cable network.

Good morning Joel,
It will be a sad day when people stop dreaming. Dreaming is the motivation to success in life. Faith is the belief those dreams will come true. Generosity helps keep us humble and focused on the true values of life.
Keep dreaming.
God bless
Terry

Oh, Remember me in your next Big dream. :-)

Dude, you've become a motivational speaker.

I've been meaning to tell you that I really like the quality of production you put into your video's.

Rock on,
-Chris

Joel,

you got a great point.
Often people around you do not understand what you are doing, or they are just envys.
I feel this more being in Italy where the Web is still seen as a scam.

Your words are bery inspirational.

Keep up with your great work.

I am sure your dream will become true very soon.

I am with you, man.

Francesco

YOUR BEST POST EVER JOEL!

You told the story perfectly and had me hanging on every word. Dreaming is the starting point to all great successes. So if people don't dream, they are pretty much doomed to take life as it comes. Keep 'em dreaming Joel!
You definitely Helped Someone Up Today!

Congrats to you. Keep up the good work Joel.

Joel,
Well said. I've always told kids that there will always be more people telling you what you can't do than people telling you what you can. I'm not sure why that is but it seems to be the norm.
Great post! Thanks!
Ike

Right on, Joel.
If you want to be big, you need to dream big.
Dreams are the first step in making ideas into a reality.
As usual, you are very motivational and inspirational.
Dream on,

That line from the old Disney song, "a dream is a wish your heart makes" comes to mind as I read this. As those who know The Dream Giver [http://www.amazon.com/Dream-Giver-Bruce-Wilkinson/dp/159052201iX] it is important, as you note, that we not focus just on the stuff that we can get from the dreams that we see come true. Having money is better than not having it because with the right dreams in our hearts we can use it for much gooId.

Thank you for what we don't see you doing in public with the money that God has given you. Remember that what you do with it in secret will be rewarded.

I'll be waiting to see the made for TV sequel to NIM.

Good. Funny. Honest. I appreciate your insights. And especially your integrity.

Morning Joel,

Let's suppose it is the other way around. Your dream is your reality and your current reality is just a dream! You know you're going to wake up soon and face your reality.

Love ya,

Joel,
Congratulations!

You have worked hard and earned your success.

I look forward to seeing "The Next Internet Millionaire" on network.

Cheers and God bless.

Hi Joel,

All I have to say is wow, that is quite an honor to be asked to do a season 2 of The Next Internet Millionaire by a major cable network. By the way, I really enjoyed the first season, it was very informative and entertaining at the same time. I also want to thank you for the advice you give in your blogs, especially this one with achieving my dreams, in fact, I've stopped talking about my dreams, especially with my family, because they're the ones who discourage me most from taking that next step because it's "hard work", and when they harp on that, I feel like retorting back saying "I know that already, it's better than being stuck in a dead-end j-o-b" or if they say "stop dreaming, it'll only lead to failure", I want to retort saying "the only path to success is by getting past the fear of failure", but most of the time, instead of trying to tell that to my family (especially my parents who are the ones who say things like that to me most(but of course, their scared of trying to make money on the internet) I, on the other hand, know what's a scam and know not to fall into it, I just isolate from them whenever they do that).

Hey Joel!

It's like I always say:

You make your own success

And you're a great example of that!

Make on!

Anne

Congratulations Joel!

I loved the Next Internet Millionaire. I cannot wait to see it on Cable.

Just make me one promise:

Don't have Omarosa on your show.

Anton Burnette

Hi Joel,

Great post, thanks for reminding us. I feel this way everyday, or try to , so thanks for reminding us all to dream big dreams.

Dave

Joel, May your dreams come true! Dreams are what make us successful. You are what you think about (and dream about).

Anita

Hey Joel,

Dang, you had me going for a minute. I was wondering when your 2nd Season of the Next Internet Millionaire would be shown. Is there going to be a second season? The last one was awesome.

As to the other things you highlighted - I'm sure at the pace you're going it will be come more than a reality. :)

All the best

Loz

Thanks Joel,
I'll have to admit you had me going with the email. Your dream truly sounded believqble!
I've been a fan of yours for a long time now and respect your opinions when it comes to internet marketing and, frankly, didn't expect such an inspirational post from you. It was truly appreciated and confirms my opinion that you're one of the people to trust.

Thanks again

Duane

Great Post Joel,

You totally got me, man. Sounds like stuff that really will happen to you someday. I literally laughed out loud and high fived the guy next to me when I read the part about you 'waking from your sleep' though.

Wow! Looks like this one really struck a positive nerve. :-)

What I find funny is the number of people who are congratulating me for the 2nd season of the show, both on this blog AND in email. The obviously aren't clicking through to read the rest of the story. Hehe...

Hi Joel,

"I'm talking about investiing in people.

I'm talking about making a difference in someone else's life."- If you have dreams like these, then no one can stop you from achieving it.
We should neglect the dream stealers who have low self esteem and move forward with what we dream.

Best wishes,
kannan

Hey Joel,

This post was awesome. It was great seeing you at Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas. I look forward to hearing those stories become a reality for you.
Best of luck with everything!

Hey Joel,

Stars shining up above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "i love you"
Birds singin' in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Yes, dream a little dream of me!

Bruce

Hey, Joel ... I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that ... coming from you, not one segment of that string of great events sounds unusual.

I'll consider them to be on temporary hold. ;)

Best,

Whatz worse than being blind , having eyes with No Vision....Get a dream , Get a vision

Hey Joel,

You had me going there for a minute. That is the kind of day you expect to have after you have put in the energy on your vision.

It's just the way the Universe works. I appreciate where your mind is at. The money is good, but for the highest success rate, it's always about doing what you love, and being in service to others.

Think bigger than yourself.

A true winning formula.

Thanks for sharing today!

Big congrats, Joel. I like the new clean-shaven look, BTW. Tim showed me the Segway video you shot of him in Vegas. We (as in the familial "we") did a Segway tour in Paris in a few years ago. It was a blast! Always good to hear good news from old buddies (not that you're old .. just that ... ya know what I mean!)

Hi Joel,

Thats some awesome dream, I dreamt your dream and Im dreaming still to dream so more.

So the only bad thing that happened to day wss waking up?

Hey Joel, You didn't awaken from your sleep, you awakened into your life! I've always appreciated your approach and now you've shown us the "why" behind the man. Thank you. I had to give you props on my blog today.

WOW I got excited there for a moment that would have been SICK NASTY lol. I figured the world has returned the favor to you because you've helped so many people (me being one of them). Either way everything you said was on point and sooo true, your an inspiration to many and I wouldn't be surprised if your dream did come true very soon.

Hi Joel.

What really surprises me is that your first part of the post WAS a dream.

I think the big-shots will kick themselves later when they realise what a talent they let slip through the corporate net.

(Or are they maybe afraid??).

The Next Internet Millionaire was an exceptionally good series.

Your other qualities are very well appreciated by all who read these blog posts.

Keep it up.

Pete.

Joel,

I'm all for dreaming. It's where great success begins.

Thanks for reminding us to do the same.

Shhh, I am trying to dream here.

Ohhh man. Thanks for the little roller coaster ride there Joel.

Sure made a good point though. This will probably be your 2008 from what I've heard!

As Van Halen once said...dream another dream. This dream is over.

Totally awesome post, Joel! And very timely for me, too - thank you very much!! :)

Great dream and even greater motivation to achieve it. Imagine how the world would be if we all had big dreams that ended with investing in people?

Thanks again - you are so generous and EVERY email is worth reading!

If you're reading this blog for the very first time, you might think that Joel is just a Dreamer, an aspiring Wannabe...

But let me assure you that this impression is far from true. Joel created that feeling just to level with you, folks...:)

Because I followed Joel's work for several years now, and because I saw him creating and executing massive projects with "The Best of the Best" in Network Marketing world, let me assure you that his words of encoragement for all of us come from the heart, and from his many years of experience.

Joel Comm is a Dreamweaver, an undeniable Expert and Thought Leader in his market, and when he says - "Don't listen to those who want to steal your dream!" - he really knows what he is talking about...

Stop building someone else's businesses, folks. Stop realizing someone else's dreams - but follow your own! That's the message for us all.

Thank you, Joel! And God Bless you in everything you do.

Wow, what a great entry! You couldn't have made it any clearer. The dreams alone are not enough. If a dream does not drive the passion to provide the motivation to actually take action, then they will be only dreams. The evidence of something being a dream is the resulting passion, that provides motivation, that leads to action, that makes dreams become reality. The opposite is desire which is the dream that is not believed, (we choose the beliefs of those around us), and is void of passion which leads to no action, which kills the hopes and dreams. Everyone can determine if they have a dream or just a desire by the reality and presence of passion that is creating action.

Aloha Joel,

I really enjoyed this post! Thank you so much for mentioning investing in people - it is my business (http://www.aloharecruiting.com) Investing in the success of others is an investment in the future and how we can grow our world into a better place.

Best to you in reaching your dreams!

Christine Watanabe

Joel

Dreams like that give us the energy to wake up, get out of bed, and go for it. I'm sure that a positive outlook and a clear vision of your own destiny are the ingredients for creating dreams like that, and it's self-perpetuating....your dreams feed your reality and your reality feeds your dreams

What a nice feeling for you to know that we thought all these great things had really happened to you

Cheers

You are a great motivator and now I am starting a new business, and your words make me feel that I am doing it well.

thanks.

Boy you had me fooled. I loved the Next Internet Millionaire. I bought The Secret Classroom and I can't until there is a season 2. Maybe you haven't gotten the offer from the networks yet, but I think it will come very soon.

And for dreaming. My dream is to have my very own business talk show that is nationally syndicated. That's my big dream along with having a best seller.

Have a good evening all

Audrey

Hi Joel,

Wow! You really knew how to draw me in - hook, line & sinker.

I completely agree that you have to stay focused on your dream(s),
no matter how big. You are right that there are people who will try
and knock you down. People who do not hold the same perspective and enthusiasm. This is all part of the challenge in achieving your dreams. Persistence & determination is the key to achieving those dreams.
I say "bring on the distractions!" I am ready to take you on.

There are three types of people in this world.

1) People who say that the glass is half full

2) People who say that the glass is half empty

and the third type of person is...

3) Hey George! I ordered a beer not a milkshake!

Matt Bsat

Thanks again for all the kind words. I hope to write more entries like this in the future. :-)

Joel, you've reminded me of something I heard from a truly successful entrepreneur. He said: "You'll never have everything you dream, but you'll never have anything that you don't dream."

If you don't see it before you see it, you'll never see it!

Thanks for an inspirational post!

Joel,
After having met you and the people from The Next Internet Millionaire in Orlando at jvAlert Live, I can honestly believe that you will achieve each and every one of those dreams.

The caliber of people that you surround yourself with is also a great indicator of where you are headed and after having met Dan and Eric, too, I can see that Colorado is fixing to become the next Silicon Valley, because you have the potential to drive the Internet Marketing Industry with your vision. Too many people are shooting for an extra paycheck, and when they fall short, they are depressed. Shoot for the income of a third world country as your goal, then if you fall short, you are still in high cotton...lol!

I was sad that I didn't get to spend more time with you in Orlando, and I hope to get to meet you again at another event. It is people with big dreams and the ability to go out and grab the next rung of the ladder, even when they have to stretch beyond their comfort zone, that I want to surround myself with. I know that success is an attitude and I want the best of the best to rub off on me!

Have an amazing day! And You are in my prayers!

Micheal

Joel,

I read the first part of your message...

And I thought if ever a good guy deserved it surely it was
you, because you give back help, motivation and much more.

Then I read the second part of the message and realized that
you are still traveling on that road as I hope are we all.

I would therefore like to add these words, taken from a small
book, "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen.

"Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become.
Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your
Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.

The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in
the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams
are the seedlings of realities.

Your circumstances may be uncongenial, but they shall not
long remain so if you but perceive an Ideal and strive to
reach it. You cannot travel WITHIN and stand still WITHOUT"

Hey Joel,

I have no doubt you will achieve that and more!

Funny, I had a dream that you did a promo for my latest project,
(the Ultimate Outsource Directory.com) and sold 1,000 copies!

Now that would really help alot of folks with their online biz! :-)

You're an inspiration to us all!

Howard

Walt Disney said 'If you can dream it, you can do it.' Joel, you are walking, talking proof of that! Dream on!

Sounds like a lucid dream. :)

Hi Joel,

How exciting to read about your "Big Dreams".

And yes, it's sad but true that many of the people
who would steal your "Big Dreams" are those that are
closest to you.

Here's some help so that all can someday experience their
own, "My Best Day Ever".

hey Joel,

Nice to read that you dream of adding value and creating difference in the lives of people. I read a lot a about you on the internet, and follow certain things that you suggest. I also blog and you can visit my blog on http://howtomanagehumanresources.blogspot.com

Ha, ha, great post! And in fact, it may be closer than you think as I was only talking about you to one of the head's of factual entertainment, who commissions programmes for the BBC, ITV, C4 and C5 - some real biggies too, that get sold in the States....i actually sent him a link to your show and everything LOL.

We were actually talking about a series for me, so I could have been shooting myself in the foot but I am a great believer in abundance and generosity, and there being enough fun for all to have.

Really enjoying the DVD's having got them as one of my Christmas presents - my kids thought I was mad but I loved it!

Keep up the twitterings!
Cheers, Nicola

Joel,
I totally agree with you about the importance of dreaming and dreaming big. Without dreams, what goals would we pursue? I firmly believe that the pursuit of our dreams, not the realization of them, is what brings us happiness. That's why we always need to come up with a new one when we've reached the one we were pursuing. Just a thought...

Hey Joel,

Thanks for your encouragement and guidance I to have big dreams and have committed myself to succeed. This really is a small industry and I love it.

Thanks for Giving me the Opportunity to make a Difference.

Reading the posting has given me goosebumps!

I love it when people dream big

I love it when the passion of their dream is so real

and I really love it when people have the guts to put it out, so say it, to dare to say what to others may be a wild and crazy "dream".

Your passion, enthusiasm and audacity has given me a bigger charge than any cup of coffee could. Thank you!
