I am writing this entry from Heathrow Airport in London. I've been here with my family since August 30th and we're ready to be back on American soil. As of now, our flight is delayed and I'm afraid we'll be sitting for a few more hours.
I've been unplugged for all but one hour while on vacation (holiday, as they call it here). It has been refreshing to get away from the computer. But, like a moth attracted to the flame, I bit the bullet and paid $12.00 for one hour of access while waiting at the airport.
We've had an absolutely packed week of going and doing.
Early in the trip, we traveled by train to Birmingham, which is about two hours outside of London. I spoke at the Focus 4 the Future Internet Marketing Conference. I met some very nice people, got to see my friends Robert Puddy and Mike Filsaime, and stayed just long enough to give my presentation on see a portion of the city with my family.
The rest of the week was a whirlwind of site-seeing. A few of the highlights were:

All-in-all, it was a good experience with my family. Hopefully, the kids have a broader view of the world and will always remember their visit across "the pond".
I 'feel' for you and your family having to sit around for hours on end at Heathrow. I suffered the same fate at LAX when waiting in the VIP lounge there for 7 longggggg hours on the 23rd of August. I was waiting for a flight back to New Zealand and "thanks to the 12 terrorists arrested in Britain a few days earlier" every friggin flight out of London to LAX was delayed several hours (effectively creating a global domino effect with the airlines).

Oh, and "yeah baby"...I got all warm and fuzzy when I saw those computers in the airport lounge as well! Sure helped cure some withdrawls I had been suffering *winks*
I was In London as well on the same day! I flew into Heathrow on the 24th and left on the 30th.
What are the odds of that?
visited london with my 84 yr old mother 1st of may, was visiting the sights, on passing houses of parliment we were accosted by 3 thugs trying 2 mug us my mum was tossed 2 the ground and sustained severe bruising and lacerations this was the most terrifing experience ever.we lived through over 30 years of troubles in ireland without a scratch and to then have this horrendous experience on weekend visit to london was just terrible,needless 2 say we didnt do any more sightseeing and as this happened on our 1st full day in london our experience was a bad one was glad to get home
