It's been an interesting week in Apple-world.
A few months ago, a news story broke that Apple was rejecting certain applications based on their "lack of utility."
The application that made news was a fart app that allowed the user to simulate flatulence noises on their iPhone. Like most guys, I have to laugh. I don't know why. It's in our genes, I guess.
Anyhow, at the same time, similar applications were submitted to Apple, but they were placed "in review" in the App store, not facing outright rejection.
The question of censorship began rising up all over the web, with iPhone developers questioning the seemingly arbitrary approval process they were being subjected to. Why should they spend time and money developing an application if Apple may reject it?
Well, Apple has finally decided to allow novelty apps such as iFart and competitors into the app store.
A few days ago, TechCrunch did a piece comparing the two major apps. In their estimation, iFart Mobile came out ahead with more functionality. It's definitely a more stylish app and doesn't look or feel like just another iPhone application.
Currently the #21 app in the store and #3 in the Entertainment category, here's a video demonstrating the better of the two applications. It's pretty funny stuff.
But here's a warning. This video is not for the feint of heart... or intestine.
In the days that have passed, fart-apps have sprung up on the app store like weeds. Copycats, wanna-be's and opportunists of every flavor have thrown together a gassy application as quick as possible in hopes of making a few bucks.
In light of this, what do you think of the future of the app store? Is Techcrunch right in fearing the "dumbling down" of the app store? Or is Apple just giving the people what they want?

Well, one place for sure NOT to use the iFart is when you are on a first date, especially when showing the ins and outs on your iphone :)...
I think its ok for apple to have competition but take out most of the apps that are put together two quickly maybe a section for quality approved apps then area for public apps not so well designed. I did a post on the ifart wish you guys the best of luck with the app!
