Last week, I wrote how my World of Warcraft account was compromised over a wireless network while at a hotel in Washington, D.C. My entire account was emptied of my hard-earned gold and loot. I was left without anything.
I wrote to the support team at Blizzard with complete details of my account and what had happened. They wrote me back telling me that my case would be escalated to the investigation team, and that it could take weeks before I heard back from them.
In the meantime, Riathamus (and my other characters) were decimated.
The good news is that Blizzard responded to my plea for help within 72 hours and completely restored my account to its former glory!
Riathamus is now glad to his armor, weaponry and over 1200 gold back in his account.
Since getting access back again, I have leveled Riathamus to 70, which is the highest level. I used my hard-earned gold to purchase a flying mount and am now enjoying the game on a completely different level.
For those who wrote previously telling me what a waste of time the game is, I say this...
Pffft.
I like to work hard and I like to play hard. If I choose to do it in a virtual world and play a game, that's my call. If you don't like it, you can go pound virtual sand. ;-)
Sorry - The Sims 2 is addictive enough... This type of interactive RPGs can interfere with your day-to-day activities, especially when you are trying to find a job (and therefore don't have one, and are at home ;-). I would recommend that people not start any of The Sims games - once you do, it can be difficult to get off of them!
I was actually at a GameStop store the night before last (the day after Christmas... or Christmas Day, in the Blogosphere ;-), perhaps the first time I've been in one of those, and was disappointed that the only computer games they had were in a small section; that section did feature WoW, but from what I've heard, that game might be even worse (more addicting) than The Sims! - Though that could depend on the person.
For a less-hooking game - but one that is great, and quite enjoyable - I would recommend the 2008 edition of The Political Machine. That game now has "custom content" (candidates) as well, which I think people can create and download.
