Riding a Segway Scooter

Posted on February 28, 2008 10:18 AM by Joel Comm

On Sunday at Affiliate Summit, I bumped into Shawn Collins in the hallway. He had rented a Segway scooter for the day and I had an opportunity to take it for a test drive.

It's really an amazing device!

It takes just a few seconds to find your balance the first time and then to get a handle on how to make it move.

But in just a matter of moments, the Segway becomes an extension of your body and you instinctively control your velocity, direction and turning very easily.

I would guess that one could master riding a Segway with just five minutes of riding one. It's that easy.

Check out the video of my brief test drive...

Hey, Joel! I got a chance to ride the segway, too... I was honestly scared for my life for the first minute, but I picked it up after that. Apparently Shawn caught me on video, so I'm looking forward to seeing the look on my face when he publishes that. Talk to you soon!

It appeared a little awkward to steer in the upright position,
fun but not for the fainthearted!
Imagine taking this device into schools across America which could
primarily aid disabled children with a means for accessibility,
especially where there is limited public transport or disabled access.
It may also serve towards the rehabilitation of elderly patients who
have lost their mobility and either due to spinal reflect or any
other given cause could well depend on something like this to give
    them back their legs.
In the meantime, have fun & enjoy every day (you taught me that).
