Social media is all about interacting with others. Without give and take communication, social media ceases to be social.
That's because people love to talk about themselves, their lives and what they are doing. Sure, it's naval-gazing, but there's an unspoken social contract that says "It's okay because you do it, too!"
Last week I conducted a social experiment of my own. Inspired by a post made by Jason Moffat, I invited followers of my fan page to post whatever they wanted on one particular thread. This would be an opportunity to share anything they wanted, including a promotional link for their own page or business.
Typically I don't allow promotions on my Facebook page, but as long as it was contained in replies to this particular thread, I decided to allow it.
The result was one of the most popular discussions on my page from the last thirty days!
Most who took advantage of my invitation did indeed share about their business and posted a link to their site.
However, some just posted something nice with no personal gain. It was interesting to see how my fans seized the opportunity to share whatever they wanted.
As fun as it was to make this happen on my Facebook page, how much more fun would it be to invite you, my reader, into my home (eg: my blog), and present an opportunity to do the same!
So this is your opportunity to "spam my blog!"
Here are the rules...
1) This post is the only place I will allow this to happen.
2) Scroll to the comments field below. Enter your real name and a valid email address. You may enter whatever you like in the URL field and leave whatever comments you wish. You msy promote your website, a Facebook page, a Twitter feed, your Instagram or Pinterest profile, or whatever else you wish. You may link to a site that has nothing to do with your business.
3) Only ONE url per person.
4) Just like any other comments left on my blog, I reserve the right to not approve a comment for any reason. That might include comments that I deem to be crude, inflammatory, mean-spirited or inappropriate. The First Amendment does not apply here. :-)
Other than that, feel free to promote your business or service, share a thought for the day, make me laugh or whatever else you want.
Go for it.
