Spore is Will Wright's latest computer game, and it is set to revolutionize the PC gaming world.
Creator of Sim City and The Sims, Spore is unlike anything else you have ever experienced in computer gaming. Due out in 2007, Spore will offer an open-ended gameplay style that will appeal to a wide variety of gamers.
So exactly what is Spore?
Spore utilizes a very wide array of traditional game play features and a world that evolves around a player's character as it evolves to create an incredibly in depth sim experience.
It does this through six phases...
Tidepool phase: A virtual 3-d pac man as you eat other micro-organisms your attain new evolutionary modifications for your organism. This is where the game begins.
Evolution phase: As your creature grows and evolves this phases takes on a more of a survival feel as you battle other creatures to survive and use your safe zone for cover.
Tribal phase: The tribal phase has a populous style feel with an RTS interface that allows you to give your tribe technologies and other features. You advance to this stage after you attain a certain level of physical evolution.
City phase: In this phase think SimCity. The city phase focuses on architecture and infrastructure.
Civilization phase: Now you must conquer your planet! You can zoom the camera out to a global view and travel via many different methods across your world to engage other civs either diplomatically or militarily.
Invasion phase: Once you have conquered your world you may move on to other systems in your solar system and then other solar systems in the galaxy. A potentially endless experience.
