Star Wars Forums

Posted on October 26, 2007 12:10 AM by Joel Comm

It was a communal moment.

I was thirteen-years old, and I remember standing in line with all the others.

We were eagerly waiting... anticipating... fully aware that we were about to experience something that would be groundbreaking and revolutionary.

Oh yes, there was a great deal of buzz. And we knew it. It was just a matter of time before we would be able to take our seats in the theater...

... and enjoy seeing Star Wars for the first time!

I wasn't disappointed.

Especially through the eyes of a teenage boy, Star Wars was a revolutionary experience.

George Lucas forever changed the face of modern-day cinema and pop culture with his Buck Rogers-esque tales of epic drama taking place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

With an incredible trilogy of films followed by a lackluster trilogy, the Star Wars phenomenon still continues thirty years later.

Darth Vader, Yoda, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker... all are cultural icons strategically licensed to appear on toys, party favors, lunchboxes and even casino slot machines. There's no avoiding it.

I was browsing DNForum.com yesterday and came across a Star Wars-related site that was for sale.

So I bought it. :-)

Call it nostalgia.

Call it capitalism.

Or perhaps it was just an impulse buy.

Regardless, I now find myself as proud owner of a Star Wars Forum.

If you are a Star Wars fan, I hope you will visit and join the discussion.

And may the force be with you.
