I can't believe I have been doing business online since 1995. It seems like so long ago, and yet just yesterday. The first ten or so years were spent creating content-rich websites for the consumer marketplace. I built and sold several of these sites. It wasn't until 2005 that I entered the Internet marketing arena with my first ebook, "What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense." Over two dozen ebooks, several products... You are probably catching on to the fact that I am not promoting many products these days. That's because most products and services coming out are not worth promoting. When you see the proliferation of traffic products, social media products, list building products and all the other rehashed same-old, same-old coming out, I'm sure you'll agree that there aren't many original ideas out there right now. So when I DO have something to share with... Continue Reading

I'm always telling people that success at social media is not about money. You can't measure your Twitter income or your Facebook revenue each day in the same way that you should be keeping track of your AdSense earnings or your affiliate income. It doesn't work that way. Continue Reading

The Internet has made life so much easier in so many ways. Think of all the time you save now that you don't have to stand in line at the bank or the post office, or shop in real stores. So what do you do with all of that time that the Internet saves you? Chances are you spend it...on the Internet. Great as the Internet is, it can be quite a time sink. Here... Continue Reading

One thing is becoming increasingly clear: mobile web browsing is quickly catching up to and surpassing desktop browsing. With more people having access to mobile-enabled cell phones than computers, the number of mobile devices browsing the web is increasing at an enormous rate. Continue Reading

When most people think about the state of the current economy, their first thought is almost never "What a great time to start a business!" But the truth is the timing couldn't be better. Financial freedom is attainable in any economic climate. You just need to know how to fit in and find your angle. Continue Reading

I said I wasn't going to do it.
But I did it.
I purchased an iPad.
I did buy a first-generation iPhone, even paying $599 for it.
But I fully intended to wait to get an iPad.
and then I saw an article in PC World. Continue Reading

(Written by guest contributor Sarah Beek) Chances are, you do the same few things on the Internet each day. You probably check your email account(s), update your various social media sites, and catch up on your favorite news sites and blogs. Lifestreaming services or social media aggregators are designed to be one-stop shops for these activities. And then can in fact make your online life much easier. (They can be life-savers if you haven't been... Continue Reading

As Twitter continues to mature, so does my usage of it. I'm rapidly approaching my ten thousandth tweet (yes, that's 10,000) and I've had a lot of time to determine how Twitter works best for me. Notice that I didn't say "how I work best for Twitter." That's important, because I regularly hear people ask me this question. "How often should I tweet?" The person asking the question is usually riddled with Twitter anxiety (Twanxiety... Continue Reading

It's great to see how Twitter has grown in the time I've been using it.
But what's really impressive is the way that people are using it. Sure, there are spammers leaping on hashtags and trying to attract attention but they're a minority. And they're easily blocked.
For the most part, people are using Twitter the way it should be used: as a way of building a community, broadcasting a brand and making valuable connections. Continue Reading

(Written by guest contributor Sarah Jane Griesemer) Having an idea, product, video, or marketing plan go viral is something of a holy grail for online marketers. Sure, everyone wants it to happen to them, but how do you do it? What is the magic formula for a successful viral marketing campaign? The answer, unfortunately, is that there isn't one. You know a good viral campaign when you see one, and since by its very definition... Continue Reading

Everyone's got a good idea, and they constantly dream of finding the perfect person who will hand them a briefcase of cash in exchange for that idea. To be honest, that's just not realistic. Ideas are pretty much worthless, unless you take action on them. Continue Reading
