What To Do When Times Are Hard

Posted on June 25, 2010 11:58 AM

In the years that I've been an online entrepreneur, I've seen some pretty bizarre times. I remember the days when advertisers were paying crazy sums of money for sending them traffic - far more than the visitors were ever going to spend - and I remember the day too when they figured that out. Ebooks De-Mythed

Posted on March 17, 2010 3:28 PM

(Written by guest contributor Mark Widawer) With so many people getting into online marketing as a way to avoid having a J-O-B, they're wondering exactly what kind of online career they should get into. When they start thinking about ebooks, they often think that maybe it's too late to get into ebook marketing, or that there aren't any good topics left to write about, or that they're not smart enough or expert enough to write... Is Google Buzz the Twitter Killer?

Posted on February 11, 2010 10:55 AM

The Internet playing field is up for grabs with a few key players vying for positioning. Bing is gunning for Google. Twitter is gunning for Facebook. And Google is gunning for... well, everyone. Google has attempted to gain market share in the social media space in the past. Orkut never caught on in the United States, though I hear it does well in some countries. And Google Wave is interesting, but not easily accessible for... Continue Reading

It's Free on the Web

Posted on April 17, 2009 8:00 AM

Here's something you're not going to hear too often these days. I'm glad I don't have a job. I'm happy that I don't have to commute to someone else's office, make nice to the boss, wonder what I have to do to move up in life... and hope and pray that I still have my job next month. That's the situation for many people these days, and I'm so happy that I've discovered that it... Continue Reading

Clearing Your Desk

Posted on February 22, 2009 8:00 AM

Whenever I see a picture from inside the Oval Office, something always strikes me. Yes, I'm struck by how much nicer the President's office is than mine (although I think I've got a better view). But mostly I'm struck by his desk. It's big and old and it's nicely decorated... but that's not really what I'm getting at either. What's most striking about the President's desk - and this is true of the workspace of... Continue Reading

Give Your Blog Away

Posted on January 26, 2009 8:00 AM

You've probably noticed that some of my websites don't have any AdSense units at all. Some people certainly have. They find it surprising. After all, I make a living teaching people how to use AdSense. I get fat checks from AdSense every month. I think that AdSense is the greatest money-dispersing invention since the automated telling machine. And yet I still don't put AdSense on all my sites. Neither should you. Continue Reading

Can You Turn Pictures Into AdSense Profits?

Posted on December 26, 2008 8:00 AM

AdSense has a weakness. It's not very good at handling images. Fill your blog or your website with pictures of your cat, your family or your vacation in Yosemite and you might please your readers, but Google won't know what to make of it. Unless you have a sizeable amount of text on your Web page, its robots won't be able to decide what you're talking about. You'll get Public Service Ads that don't earn... Continue Reading
