My Weight Loss Journey - One Year Later

Posted on October 8, 2011 6:24 AM

It was early September 2010. At over 225 pounds and sporting a size 40 waist, I decided it was time to make a change. After all, at 46-years old, I wasn't getting any younger. In order to hold myself accountable to my desire to get fit and lose weight, I went public with my goals. I wrote about the changes I would be making extensively on this blog. My first entry was posted 9/14/10. By... Continue Reading

How to Tell a Good Programmer from a Bad Programmer

Posted on December 20, 2010 1:48 PM

(Written by guest contributor Tim Golen) I'm going to get up on my soapbox for a little bit here. You see... I consider myself to be a good programmer. Now, I don't mean the BEST programmer, just a good one. I know there are so many things that I have yet to learn out there. In my days I've come across both good and bad programmers, and I could probably write a decent book on... Continue Reading

Healthy Eating at the Office

Posted on October 19, 2010 7:38 AM

Experts say that you should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. I believe they are probably correct, but I have a really hard time adjusting my eating habits that much. I'm more likely to skip breakfast altogether, eat a decent lunch and pig out for dinner. I'm also likely to have a mid-afternoon snack to satisfy my sweet tooth. That has all changed. For the past six... Continue Reading

Upsell Insanity

Posted on September 24, 2010 2:05 AM

It's not uncommon for marketers to use upsells and downsells in order to gain a new customer and make a sale. Downsells typically offer the same product or some derivative of that product at a discounted price. Upsells will usually come after a sale has been made, and offer extra goods or services for an additional fee. There's nothing wrong with upselling or downselling in theory. But I do believe there are cases where integrity... Continue Reading

What's Wrong with Internet Marketing?

Posted on August 8, 2010 3:38 PM

There's a very disturbing trend taking place in the Internet marketing world. I am specifically referring to the Infoproduct "make money online" niche. I've had one foot in this market for the past few years, but I am increasingly dismayed by what I see happening. I say "one foot" because my products and services are very diverse and most are not in the IM niche. However, it's time someone came forward to draw a line... Continue Reading

Wells Fargo Bank Doesn't Want My Business

Posted on July 29, 2010 1:13 PM

Is "change" coming to Wells Fargo Bank? I'm in Henderson, Nevada at Green Valley Ranch preparing to speech at James Malinchak's Millionaire Success Secrets event. The topic for my talk is "How to Get Google to Send You Money", which is about making money with AdSense. As part of my AdSense presentation, I use $50 - $75 in pennies to illustrate how little clicks add up to real money. So every time I visit a... Continue Reading

Fatally Flawed Videos

Posted on June 7, 2010 10:43 AM

(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) Let's face it: it's not hard to find flaws in a lot of online videos. I'm not above reproach myself. I often look back on my work and question my tactics or execution. As online video producers, we generally don't have the same budget or tools at our disposal that feature-length filmmakers do. Having said that, there are some things that you just can't do if you want people... Continue Reading

Technically Speaking - Unique Clicks

Posted on May 22, 2010 1:19 PM

(Written by guest contributor Jared Newgent) In measuring traffic, there are numerous classifications for the type of traffic that is measured. Traffic can have many names for the same classification depending on where the info is gleaned from. To avoid confusion, instead of using terms interchangeably, I will be using the terms that Google has used in their documentation for AdWords, AdSense, and Analytics. One such classification is Unique Clicks. What is determined as a... Continue Reading

Making a Video Is Easier Than You Think

Posted on March 25, 2010 3:48 PM

(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) I just can't make a video. I don't have a nice camera or any equipment and I certainly can't afford any of that high-end editing software. I'm just too busy and there's not really any time. Besides, I wouldn't know where to begin even if I had the equipment or the time. Continue Reading

Idol and Healthcare and Lost, Oh My

Posted on March 24, 2010 12:59 PM

In this weekly update, you might find me trending a bit towards pop culture. There's just so much to talk about. The title of the entry sandwiches a very serious issue in between two entertaining, yet ultimately meaningless television programs for a reason. That's because the health care discussion (if you can call it that) that has taken place in the United States the past year has been largely void of substance. Instead, the current... Make Your Money Work for You

Posted on March 20, 2010 3:47 PM

(Written by guest contributor Dan Nickerson) Everyone's heard the expression, "It takes money to make money." While the Internet has allowed many of us to bend this rule a bit, for the most part it's still very true. Continue Reading

They have the power to add emotion, interest, and impact to the content of any layout. Getting the right image that will communicate your message to the desired demographic can be a challenge. What SEO Mistakes Have You Made?

Posted on December 20, 2006 4:19 PM

Building a successful website doesn’t happen overnight. You have to create the pages, write the content, optimize your ads, drive traffic. You can be up and running within minutes but to earn the sort of revenues that make the whole thing worthwhile (and more) you’re going to have to invest time. And much of that time is going to be spent troubleshooting. A poorly-designed, badly-optimized site might make a little bit of money. A site... Continue Reading
