One year ago today, I weighed in at 225 pounds with a 40-inch waist. With just a 5'10" frame, I was unhealthy and on the road to very bad things. Today, I am 170 pounds with a 32-inch waist. I've never felt better in my life. And people continue to ask me what plan I followed. It's simple. Eat less and move your body more. Common sense, right? However, there are some things I did... On September 1st, 2010, I weighed in at over 225 pounds. I didn't step on the scale often because it wasn't very good news. My energy levels were low. My blood pressure was high. And I was moody. I didn't want to feel that way anymore. I had lost weight in the past, but I wasn't sure I could do it again. After all, I DID balloon back to my previous weight AND put on... Continue Reading

Yesterday I scared little children around the world with photos of me at 225 pounds. I did warn you beforehand, so please don't send me your psycho-analysis and therapy bills. For the past three months I have been on The Joel Comm Diet, which is not a diet at all. Instead it combines common sense with a plan that works for me. I am pleased to say that three months later I have lost 35... Continue Reading

What makes the difference between a person who succeeds and one who doesn't? What makes the difference between a person who accomplishes great things and another who never does anything? What makes the difference between a person who gets what they want and one that is left empty-handed? Certainly, life can throw all kinds of curveballs at us. We don't get to choose our parents. We don't get to choose where we are born. We... Continue Reading

I've been at Project Fit for about a month now. My goal has been to prove you don't need to go to extremes in order to lose weight and become healthier. There's nothing wrong with extreme exercising as it really can't do you harm. But there is a problem with extreme dieting. I don't want to be extreme in any way. After reading The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, I wanted to put his theories... Continue Reading

In this episode of Project Fit, I paid a visit to my alternative medicine doctor to get a second opinion on what I needed to do to become more healthy. We discussed a number of things, including the foods I eat, my exercise plan and my cholesterol levels. According to the American Cancer Society all men should be regularly checked for signs of prostate cancer at the age of fifty. I'm not fifty yet, but... Continue Reading

I'm just entering week #3 of Project Fit.
Last week, I had blood drawn at my doctor's office.

I'm on my way to losing weight and becoming more heart-healthy.
I believe whenever you are preparing to make a lifestyle change, it's a good idea to confer with your medical doctor.
In today's Project Fit episode I do just that.

As I blogged last week, I need to lose approximately forty pounds. On top of that, I would like to become physically fit. And I want to do it without going to extremes. No punitive diets. I have a hard time keeping up with my tweets. I just get so many each day.
I have an ever harder time keeping up with Direct Messages on Twitter (DMs). I usually don't read them.
However, I took a peak at my DMs tonight and I came across something highly unusual. Continue Reading

Steamboat Springs, Colorado has always been one of my favorite ski spots. Well, there's no snow... yet. But I am vacationing here with my family this week. After Elevate 2008, I needed a break, and this place is just what the doctor ordered. With that said, I took the Macbook on the deck to broadcast Joel Comm LIVE! The following videos are replays of today's broadcast. There are no flying monkeys or top ten lists... Continue Reading

I'm amazed that there are people out there -- somewhere -- who aren't making money from AdSense. It's not as though you need a doctorate in computer studies and a professorship in literature. You just need a website and an AdSense account.
And ever since blogging came along, the website bit has been a breeze. It takes all of about five minutes to sign up on Blogger and it's a perfect match for AdSense.
