Over the past couple years, information marketers have come under greater scrutiny by the United States Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has taken several companies and individuals to task for deceptive Internet marketing practices. As the largest seller of information products online, Clickbank.com is now issuing clearer guidelines for the types of products and/or marketing practices that will be more closely scrutinized going forward. In other words, they are going to be working harder to... Continue Reading

Twitter is powerful. Facebook is a force to be reckoned with. Both are great sources for generating new business.
But there is one site that gets the short end of the stick when it comes to social media influence. And if you know how to use it right, you can generate tons of targeted leads for your business.

"Nazis. I hate these guys." - Indiana Jones And who doesn't? That's what made #21 on my list of Top 25 Games that Rocked my World such a blast to play. The year was 1992. The computer was a Tandy 1000 with little more than a floppy drive. Shareware was the term for software that you could download for free and pay a small donation if you liked the program. It took id Software and... Continue Reading

Recently I went to one of my favorite restaurants for a quick lunch. I called in an order of Chicken Tortilla soup to-go and went to pick it up. While I was there I observed that the restaurant was not busy. It SHOULD have been busy, being lunchtime. But it wasn't. It was then I asked to see if the owner was there. I wanted to speak with him for his benefit. He came out... Continue Reading

It was a year ago that we were in Estes Park, Colorado with some friends when my son told me he wanted a pair of Vibram Five Finger Shoes. Being completely out of touch, I was thinking "You want vibrating shoes?" "Dad", he said. "They are Vibram Five Finger shows" So I took him to the store and he showed me the shoes. I had seen toe socks before because my teenage daughter would wear... Continue Reading

(Written by guest contributor Andrew Albritton) No, it doesn't have anything to do with armed agents kicking down doors. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and doing a SWOT analysis on your business is an essential step in the process of branding and marketing your product or service. It also helps you come up with business strategies. SWOT analyses help you to identify and capitalize on your strengths, and they can help... Continue Reading

Previously I explained the basics of three-point lighting. Today, we're going to expand that concept into lighting for an interview. Essentially we'll be doing two instances of three-point lighting, but we'll add the dimension of multiple camera angles. Continue Reading

Whenever I teach people about making money with AdSense, I make sure to let them know how easy it is to get started. Once they understand that their original content can translate to a revenue stream, they usually want to know what to do. For someone who has never blogged before, I recommend they set up a Blogger account. Not only is it easy to use, but it is also free. And since Google owns... Continue Reading

Everyone who has ever worked from home knows that sometimes, it isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Sure at first it can be liberating and novel to "go to work" unshowered and in your pajamas, but eventually many people realize that they get more done when there is more of a demarcation between work and home. Home offices with doors might work, but a lot of people end up looking for someplace... Continue Reading

With all the talk of the "world wide" Internet and globalization, it can be easy to ignore the profit potential of people living in your area. People are still people, and they still prefer to buy things from people who they know and trust. So why not make sure those in your physical vicinity are able to find you and your website? When you hear a KaChing in a store, it can only mean one thing. The store's made money. Someone's bought something. They've given money to the store's owner and they've walked away with a product they're going to enjoy.
But before that KaChing, there were a number of smaller rings. You won't have heard them but you can be sure the store's owner did.

There are those who start at the bottom of a company with the aspiration to rise to the top, and there are those for whom the words upwardly mobile do not apply. I encountered Mr. Latter attending to the United Skycap station in LAX today. My associates and I bring our bags to the guy and we go through the regular procedure. "What is your destination?", "Show me your identification" and "How many bags will... Continue Reading
