If I Was God

Posted on November 9, 2010 6:27 AM

What would you do if you were God? We're talking about the Supreme Being; the Almighty; the Alpha and Omega; the Big Cheese; the Head Honcho; the Man in the Sky. You get the picture. Many of us behave as though we are God. We erroneously think the world revolves around us. Trust me, I've been there before. But if you had all of eternity on your hands and were just hanging out by yourself... Continue Reading

It Begins with a Decision

Posted on October 20, 2010 6:58 AM

What makes the difference between a person who succeeds and one who doesn't? What makes the difference between a person who accomplishes great things and another who never does anything? What makes the difference between a person who gets what they want and one that is left empty-handed? Certainly, life can throw all kinds of curveballs at us. We don't get to choose our parents. We don't get to choose where we are born. We... Continue Reading

What Did You Call Me?

Posted on December 14, 2009 8:00 AM

The French call people who use the Internet "Internautes." I like that. It makes us sound like explorers seeking out new life and new civilizations in cyberspace. When I open my browser, I half-expect to bump into a French Captain Kirk. It's certainly a better term than any of the words we have in English. "Users" makes our readers sound like drug addicts. "Surfers" makes them sound like Californian beach bums. And "readers" doesn't work... Continue Reading

Coupon Codes - The Art of Saving Money Online

Posted on March 8, 2008 1:19 AM

I have a confession to make. I love shopping online and I love using online coupon codes. I've been doing online shopping online since Amazon.com launched in 1995. In the early years, merchants would regularly offer fantastic discounts on merchandise in order to get new customers to their stores. For example, Reel.com (nbow defunct?) used to offer $10 off coupons on a regular basis. So I would buy DVDs for approximately $5 each. What a... Continue Reading

Arbonne Letters

Posted on June 15, 2006 9:21 PM

Who would have thought that my post about Arbonne would have generated so much discussion? Admittedly, it does get heated from time to time. But I have allowed the post to be a forum for free speech as long as people keep it clean and don't abuse each other. If you try to read it, expect to spend at least an hour... it just keeps going and going... A few months ago, I put up... Continue Reading

And My Cholesterol Level Is...

Posted on February 24, 2006 11:33 AM

Three months ago, I told you that my cholesterol levels were high. My LDL (bad cholesterol) was approximately 138. My total cholesterol was 214. My primary care physician immediately wanted to place me on Lipitor. I told him that I was not eager to get on this medication as I heard it had some long-term side effects. I also do not like the idea of becoming dependent on the chemical compound du jour. So I... Continue Reading

I Should've Been Your Hero

Posted on September 11, 2005 12:23 AM

Slowly but surely, the truth about abortion is coming to the surface in the American mindset. More and more women are speaking out about how abortion has hurt them terribly, leaving a wake of destruction in their personal lives. So many of society's ills can be traced back to an abortion in someone's life. Drug addictions. Eating disorders. Sexual dysfunction. Depression. There is a cause and effect link between taking the unborns baby's life and... Continue Reading

Study Links Celebrex to Heart Problems

Posted on December 17, 2004 3:28 PM

Look out folks, another anti-arthritis drug has been linked to cardiovascular problems. Pfizer says a new study found an increased risk of heart problems with the painkiller Celebrex. Last month, Vioxx was withdrawn from the market. You know what this means, doncha? Unleash the ambulence chasers! The sue-happy attorneys now have more red meat with which to deepen their pockets and chase the price of medical care and drugs higher and higher. Essentially, the study... Continue Reading

Vioxx Hysteria?

Posted on October 23, 2004 2:28 PM

And so, the litigation hounds once again are unleashed on the prescription drug community. This time it is over Vioxx, an anti-arthitic drug manufactured by Merck. Research has long pointed to the fact that long-term use of Vioxx may contribute to heart attacks and strokes. Perhaps the FDA didn't study the drug long enough. Perhaps the pharmaceutical companies are only interested in money. Perhaps people don't read the warning labels. And perhaps some were willing... Continue Reading

Merry Christmas!

Posted on December 25, 2003 12:00 AM

Christmas. It evokes thoughts of Santa Claus, reindeer, snow, presents, wrapping, shopping, a warm fireplace on a chilly night, children anticipating the big day, and time spent with family and friends. My hope for you is all of the above. But even moreso, my hope for you is that the real meaning of Christmas will land smack dab in the middle of your heart... and never leave. Christmas is Jesus. Christmas is the birth of... Continue Reading
