Get Your Own KaChing Button

Posted on May 24, 2011 6:31 AM

I remember the first time I encountered an "easy button" at Staples. Push the big red button with the word "easy" printed on it and the family "That was easy" voice was played. I loved it and had to have one. A couple years ago I came up with an idea for another button which I thought would have great appeal to business people around the world. A green button with a dollar sign on... Continue Reading

Content Really is KaChing!

Posted on May 17, 2011 12:00 PM

As you know, I've been building websites since 1995. I've always been a big fan of creating content-rich sites that bring value to others. That's why I have always spoken against creating spammy sites designed to game the search engines. It's not a good model for building a long-term business. I've sold a number of my sites over the years. In 1998, Yahoo! purchased my multiplayer game site, ClassicGames.com. Today you know it as Yahoo... Continue Reading

Share the Love

Posted on October 21, 2010 5:56 AM

I recently enjoyed a meal with my daughter at Hu Hot Mongolian Grill in Fort Collins. It's our favorite place to enjoy build-your-own stir fry. Very tasty. As we were leaving the table, I heard my name called out. "Joel"... I turned around to a gentlemen looking at me. I didn't recognize him so I am scanning the recesses of my brain very rapidly to try to recall where I know him from. As it... Continue Reading

Blogging from a iPad

Posted on April 10, 2010 7:21 AM

I said I wasn't going to do it. But I did it. I purchased an iPad. I did buy a first-generation iPhone, even paying $599 for it. But I fully intended to wait to get an iPad. and then I saw an article in PC World. Continue Reading

Real Journalism is a Thing of the Past

Posted on February 20, 2010 5:42 PM

As a blogger, I frequently share my opinion on a number of topics. That sometimes includes current events or newsworthy items. However, I never put myself forth as a journalist. While I prefer to have my facts straight, I must confess that I don't always get it right. But I believe those who report news have a much bigger obligation to accurately report stories. Don't you agree? I can't tell you how many times I... Continue Reading

My Favorite Gadgets

Posted on February 14, 2010 9:34 AM

It's been said that the only difference between men and boys are the price of their toys. I don't know if that's still true, but I do know that I've always been into gadgets. Raised on video games (I remember when Space Invaders and PacMan showed up next to pinball machines), I've always had a thing for electronics. I owned the first cartridge-based video game system that didn't require overlays on your television screen. This... Continue Reading

Apple Approves The KaChing Button

Posted on December 28, 2009 4:29 PM

I few months ago I came up with the idea of creating a simple app that entrepreneurs would enjoy. Being a big fan of buttons that make sounds (eg: The Easy Button), I thought a bit about what that app would be. Since I've got a book called "KaChing: How to Run an Online Business that Pays and Pays" coming out in the Summer, why not create a digital KaChing Button? That's exactly what I... Continue Reading

Entrepreneur Bootcamp 2009

Posted on October 19, 2009 1:51 PM

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of traveling to London to speak at Andrew Reynold's Entrepreneur Bootcamp 2009. For the past few years, Andrew has put on an annual event that has dwarfed other marketing events in both size and scope. This year sought to outdo them all with a massive two-day event at the London O2 Arena. Continue Reading

Book Expo America 2008

Posted on May 31, 2008 12:56 AM

I'm currently in Los Angeles for the annual Book Expo America, otherwise known as BEA. Why BEA? I have a book coming out on August 1st and I showed up to support my publisher and do some networking. Now I must confess. I am a trade show junkie. I love the vast conference centers with aisles and aisles of vendors hawking their goods and services. I'm especially a sucker for the freebies and swag. It's... Continue Reading
