(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) Several weeks ago, we posted an article about the new YouTube Show & Tell channel that highlighted some of the more creative uses of the video giant's site. And now, after watching some of those examples and finding ourselves in need of a new angle to promote our newest iPhone app, I present to you the Sergeant Gun YouTube experience. It's not just a video, it really is an... Continue Reading

(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) Have you ever seen a television commercial that just drives you nuts because of the spokesperson they use? I can think of at least two regional companies here in Colorado that fall into that category for me. In both cases, the "actor" has a close tie to the company being advertised. For one it's the owner, and for the other one it's the owner's kid that serves as their... Continue Reading

A 2006 study found that viewers made subconscious decisions about the quality and credibility of web pages in just 1/20th of a second. In this blink of an eye, viewers did not have enough time to read text or even recognize photos, but instead were reacting only to the site's layout. Even when the participants had more time to look at the site, the research found that they only attempted to reinforce this initial conclusion. Continue Reading

If text is your message, then your use of text is your tone. Typography is the art and technique of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs. In fact, the aesthetic you create through the use of typography often goes further in creating an atmosphere of professionalism, credibility, and organization than the content of the text itself. This article and next week's will be focused on helping you achieve better results in your designs... Continue Reading

In this weekly update, you might find me trending a bit towards pop culture. There's just so much to talk about. The title of the entry sandwiches a very serious issue in between two entertaining, yet ultimately meaningless television programs for a reason. That's because the health care discussion (if you can call it that) that has taken place in the United States the past year has been largely void of substance. Instead, the current... (Written by guest contributor Mark Widawer) With so many people getting into online marketing as a way to avoid having a J-O-B, they're wondering exactly what kind of online career they should get into. When they start thinking about ebooks, they often think that maybe it's too late to get into ebook marketing, or that there aren't any good topics left to write about, or that they're not smart enough or expert enough to write... I can't believe it has been over five years since the release of my first ebook on how to make money with Google AdSense. Originally titled "What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense", the ebook came out in January 2005 with just 66 pages. Today it is in its fourth edition and comes in at over 230 pages. I still bring in around $500/day with AdSense. But Google is just ONE way... Continue Reading

WARNING: This series of posts may be hazardous to your preconceived notions of how to make money online. Reading it may save you thousands of dollars in pipe dreams and cause you to focus on the single most important aspect of running an Internet business. If you suffer from A.D.S. (Acute Denial Syndrome) or insist on believing that buying another product or service is the magic bullet that will cure all your financial ills, these... Continue Reading

With the advent of built-in webcams and the easy-to-use Flip camera, it's very easy to choose speed over quality in shooting videos these days. Who wants to worry about lighting and spend time setting up a shot when all you need to do is fire up your webcam, sit down, and start recording? It doesn't really matter if you've got a week's accumulation of Mountain Dew cans on the table behind you, does it... Continue Reading

I have a hard time keeping up with my tweets. I just get so many each day.
I have an ever harder time keeping up with Direct Messages on Twitter (DMs). I usually don't read them.
However, I took a peak at my DMs tonight and I came across something highly unusual. Continue Reading

Wow.
I should probably just end the blog post with that one word, as I am speaking about Tweet-a-Thon 2009.
Just wow.
But you know I can't stop there!
It's the morning after. I am still exhausted. But I am basking in the afterglow of what I shall remember for the rest of my life. Continue Reading
