What I Want To Be When I Grow Up

Posted on January 9, 2012 1:17 AM

"When you are through changing, you are through." - Bruce Barton Change is inevitable. Apart from death and taxes, change is the only thing in this life that we can count on. This past year has found me in the midst of much change. After a number of years as an author, speaker and entrepreneur, I have spent the last year quietly reassessing my life. Taking some time away from work, I've been tending to... Continue Reading

Time for a Change

Posted on February 3, 2011 3:04 AM

"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven." - Ecclesiastes 3:1 Nothing lasts forever. Change is inevitable. Over the past fifteen or so years I have created dozens of websites, products, services and applications that run the gamut of new media. Content sites, information products, member sites, web-based software, iPhone applications, mobile marketing platforms, entertainment sites and more. During that time I have had some tremendous successes and some... Continue Reading

A New Trend in Smart Phone Market Share

Posted on September 10, 2010 10:33 AM

(Written by guest contributor Tim Golen) There is a new trend in the smart phone market share. Sitting at the top of the market is still Nokia. Tied for second place are Apple, Google, and RIM (Blackberry devices). Right now Google enjoys a 14.9% market share but in the next several years, according to Piper Jaffray, Google is poised to capture at least 50% of the smart phone market share. This would cement their dominance... Continue Reading

When Times are Tough, Which Way Do You Go?

Posted on February 21, 2010 9:59 PM

We are living in challenging times. If you are not feeling the economic pinch, you at least know others who are. Some blame the politicians, both Republicans and Democrats. Others blame the legal system. And many wag their finger at corporations who have failed to serve the customer in lieu of their own desire to become wealthy. Regardless, the end result is that unemployment is up and more people are having a difficult time making... Continue Reading

Dealing With Criticism

Posted on July 30, 2009 8:00 AM

There are about seven billion people on the planet. Every one of us is different. Every one of us has opinions, tastes, inclinations and preferences. And every one of us is difficult to please. If you work hard at marketing your website and your products, you'll be able to put them in front of a few thousand of those people. Work really hard and build successful products, and maybe millions will see them. Continue Reading

What Makes a Business Grow

Posted on May 27, 2009 8:00 AM

The people behind Twitter were incredibly lucky. They weren't lucky because they had a great idea. They weren't even lucky that no one else had thought of their idea before them. They were lucky that the system took just two weeks to build. My staff and I get together for regular brainstorming sessions. We toss out ideas left, right and center. By the time we walk out of that room, we've got a white board... Continue Reading

What Are You Scared Of?

Posted on May 22, 2009 8:00 AM

I'm scared of change. There, I said it. It's not big news though. Everyone is scared of change. Change is a scary thing. It means giving up what you have now for something better that you can only hope you'll have in the future. It's risky. It's dangerous. It's disruptive. It's also thrilling, exciting... and inevitable. Continue Reading

Time to Fail

Posted on January 29, 2009 8:00 AM

Here's a confession... Not every idea I've had has been golden. In fact, I can say that many of the business ideas I've tried have managed to bring me... well, let's just say something was funding one or two lunches per week. That's one of the advantages of marketing. Everyone gets to know about your successes but your failures just fade away. Continue Reading

You Can Make a Difference

Posted on April 6, 2008 1:39 AM

What is the definition of true success? Is it having a large bank account? Is it having a garage full of cars? Is it having a mansion with so many rooms you can't fill them all? I would say that all of these material things are an indicator that a person may have succeeded in business, but without one key component I don't believe a person is truly successful. An outpouring of support

Posted on October 27, 2005 10:13 PM

I wanted to say "thank you" to those of you who have emailed or left comments on my blog in support of me and my family in the loss of my Aunt. I have enjoyed spending time with my family today. It is especially touching to hear my mom tell stories of her relationship with her sister. There have been a good many tears. Tomorrow we lay Joan to rest, and live will go on... Continue Reading
