Twitter Success Story - Jordan Benker

Posted on January 24, 2012 10:28 PM

Allow me to introduce you to my nephew, Jordan Benker. I know him as Jordy, and he is a very talented young musician. Why am I writing about Jordan today? Obviously, I care about him and I want to see him succeed. But I've got another angle. This past week I observed something very interesting happening with Jordan while following his Facebook posts. There was a discussion saying that his name trended worldwide on Twitter... Continue Reading

Calculating Content's Value

Posted on December 28, 2010 4:10 PM

I'm pretty happy with the revenues the ad units on my websites generate every month. I'd be a lot happier though with the revenues that Richard Rosenblatt's websites receive every month. Continue Reading

Why You Should Network Like It's 1999

Posted on August 27, 2010 3:26 PM

As online marketers, we put a lot of stock in social networking, and rightfully so. There really is no better way to get the word out about your business, its mission, and your brand and to build valuable relationships that will create opportunities and help your business grow. Or is there? Back in the day, before Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and even Friendster, all they could do was network the old-fashioned way: face-to-face and in person... Continue Reading

Free Google Buzz Report

Posted on March 19, 2010 9:29 AM

It seems like an eternity ago that MySpace first hit the web. But it was 2003 when the site launched and 2006 when it became the most popular social networking site on the web. Things have dramatically changed in a short period of time. Facebook overtook MySpace as the leader just a brief two years later. Which leaves me asking the questions Why would anyone continue to use MySpace? Who ARE these people? Regardless, social... Continue Reading

10 Ways to NOT Be My Facebook Friend

Posted on February 4, 2010 10:46 AM

How did Facebook ever get to be so big? Honestly, the site is chock full 'o so much garbage that it has become the new MySpace. But beyond all the stupid vampire and zombie games, there is a solid social media site that can be useful for businesses. For over a year, I have peaked at my 5000 friend limit. However, people close their accounts or unfriend me from time to time. So I've always... Continue Reading

Build Communities, Not Followers, on Twitter

Posted on July 18, 2009 8:00 AM

One of the most exciting developments that has occurred on Twitter in the months since I put together Twitter Power has been the release of all sorts of statistics about the site. We've learned, for example, that many of the site's users are middle-aged, high earning business types rather than the kids that create pages on MySpace. We've found that only a small proportion of Twitter's users are writing most of the tweets while the... Continue Reading

Don't Stop Writing!

Posted on April 22, 2009 8:00 AM

When I started work on Twitter Power at the end of September 2008, I had about 5,000 followers. That was a pretty good amount back then: it was only a year ago that Twitter's blog was reporting that anyone with more than 80 followers was among the site's top ten percent of users. Boy, have things changed! Continue Reading

Social Media Expert

Posted on July 30, 2008 12:14 AM

"You're a social media expert", he said on the conference call. I guess I hadn't thought of myself in that manner before. He went on to tell me that I have provided him with tons of advice on using social media to leverage his brand and increase traffic to his sites. I pondered for a while and realized that I had gotten so used to sharing my knowledge that I didn't recognize just how much... Continue Reading

If I Owned Twitter

Posted on July 27, 2008 10:34 PM

Social Media is all the buzz right now. It started with MySpace, continued with YouTube and has brought about Facebook, Twitter and a host of other sites promising the help people interact in new ways. These sites have become very popular and two were purchased for a tidy sum. Rupert Murdoch's News Corp purchased MySpace for $580 million and Google bought YouTube for for $1.65 BILLION. I'm sure the boys from Facebook and Twitter have... Continue Reading

Coming Attractions

Posted on January 25, 2008 5:46 AM

I've had several people ask me what I'm going to be up to in 2008. I'm very excited, because this is going to be a breakthrough year for many people who will increase their online revenue. AND, I am excited because I am going to be doing several things that have never been done before! That's kind of a mantra with me. I don't like to do what everyone else is doing. You have to... Facebook - Facebook - Facebook

Posted on September 4, 2007 4:05 PM

Facebook. The first time I heard about this site had to be over a year ago. I was told it was a social networking site for college students, so I didn't give it much of a look. After all, I've been out of college for many years. (I won't tell you how many!) But about a month or so ago I started receiving invitations to use facebook from some friends and associates of mine. Hmmm... Continue Reading

If you haven't heard of MySpace by now, chances are you have been living in the outermost reaches of Siberia. And if you don't have a MySpace page of your own, you probably will soon. Yes, even I have a MySpace page. Anyhow, if you are wanting to know how to master the ins and outs of MySpace, here's a handy online guide to help you along. MySpace Revealed Continue Reading
