Helping the Homeless

Posted on October 2, 2010 4:36 AM

As I travel around our country, I can not help but notice the epidemic of homelessness. There are so many people on the streets of our cities. How many more are there that we DON'T see? We've all encountered homeless people in our cities or towns. My heart goes out to those who don't have a safe place to rest their heads. It's even more heartbreaking when those people are children. I recently had the... Continue Reading

Loveland, Colorado Brush Fire

Posted on September 13, 2010 11:28 AM

It's been terribly dry in Northern Colorado. I can't remember the last time we had a substantial rain. Last week, the big news was the fire in Boulder County that claimed over 600 acres of land and at least 92 homes (nine of them belonging to firefighters.) Fortunately, no one was injured. As we were leaving church Sunday morning, it was impossible to miss smoke rising due west of our town, Loveland. It did not... Continue Reading

Wells Fargo Bank Doesn't Want My Business

Posted on July 29, 2010 1:13 PM

Is "change" coming to Wells Fargo Bank? I'm in Henderson, Nevada at Green Valley Ranch preparing to speech at James Malinchak's Millionaire Success Secrets event. The topic for my talk is "How to Get Google to Send You Money", which is about making money with AdSense. As part of my AdSense presentation, I use $50 - $75 in pennies to illustrate how little clicks add up to real money. So every time I visit a... Continue Reading

MPEG Streamclip - The Swiss Army Knife of Video Encoders

Posted on June 12, 2010 10:54 AM

(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) I realized that I needed to write about this piece of software when I recommended it to someone for the third time in recent memory. What struck me was that each thing that I recommended it for was different. One person needed to convert some files from a proprietary AVC-HD codec that her editing software couldn't read, another was looking to pull some material from a DVD, and the... Continue Reading

What's Your Social Media Policy?

Posted on May 5, 2010 2:52 PM

(Written by guest contributor David Nour) In my last several prospective client meetings, a consistent conversation has centered on the need for a social media policy. Whether you work for a progressive organization or a conservative, risk-adverse one, it seems that everyone has an opinion on the best approach. Here are some prevailing camps: Continue Reading

Chitika Gets Selective

Posted on April 16, 2010 11:12 AM

When Chitika brought out its Premium units in 2008, it did something unique. And a bit selfish. The company raised its conversion rate by filtering out those users who were least likely to buy. Continue Reading

Mari Smith and Dueling iPads

Posted on April 9, 2010 9:45 AM

I had the privilege of welcoming "The Queen of Facebook", Mari Smith, to my offices. She was in town to speak at the Northern Colorado Social Media Social, so we had an opportunity of spending the afternoon together before the event. Mari and I both purchased the newly-released iPad from Apple. We decided to do a live broadcast from my studio. In case you missed it, the replay is below. Not only did we discuss... Here's Why You Don't Have a Successful Online Business

Posted on March 30, 2010 8:58 AM

I've got a question for you. Please raise your hand if you sincerely wish to have a successful online business. Now keep your hand up if you have achieved this goal. Odds are most of the hands just went down. Why is that? It's not for a lack of quality material. Whether you have read my books or acquired material from other sources, you are probably pretty clear on the "how" to make money on... Continue Reading

Why Organization Matters

Posted on February 23, 2010 10:49 AM

(Written by Mary Comm) Since coming on board as President of InfoMedia, Inc. a few months ago, one of the first things I did was to create some work files for the various projects that began crossing my desk immediately. They were files with titles like, Staff Matters, Financial Matters, Legal Matters, etc. As I began to get to know the company more thoroughly, I realized how much organization matters. Joel Comm Workshop

Posted on January 15, 2010 9:43 AM

These are challenging times. There's no question about it. And it is during challenging times that we find out what we are made of. I've discovered there to be two types of people. The first type goes along with the current and feels unable to orchestrate a change. They don't believe their choices can make a difference. Essentially, they feel helpless to achieve their goals and dreams. When you hoping to build an online business... Continue Reading

Thanksgiving at the Simkins' 2009

Posted on November 27, 2009 11:08 AM

I grew up in northern suburbs of Chicago. You know all the John Hughes' films like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science? They were either filmed or supposed to have taken place in the region where I was raised. In fact, there is a scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off that was filmed outside my old high school, Glenbrook North. Ferris' sister is outside the school and a bunch of kids are running... Tweet-a-Thon 2009 a Massive Success

Posted on February 20, 2009 7:56 AM

Wow. I should probably just end the blog post with that one word, as I am speaking about Tweet-a-Thon 2009. Just wow. But you know I can't stop there! It's the morning after. I am still exhausted. But I am basking in the afterglow of what I shall remember for the rest of my life. Continue Reading

Posted on July 10, 2008 12:03 AM

It's another wonderful day in Northern Colorado, and Dan Nickerson and I have placed another episode of "Joel Comm LIVE!" in the can. Did you miss the show? There's a visit from Rich Schefren (virtually speaking), a new Top Ten list, Q&A and Flying Monkey Time. Enjoy the show? Continue Reading

Colorado Tornado Comes Near My Offices

Posted on May 23, 2008 12:37 PM

Around noon on May 22, 2008, I was at Denver International Airport waiting for a plane to Dallas. My phone rang and it was my daughter calling from her school to tell me that Loveland and northern Colorado was under a tornado warning. Apparantly a tornado had been spotted and they had the students go to the safest place in the building. A tornado? On the front range? I spent 21 years of my life... Continue Reading
