In order to be successful online, you have to put yourself out there. Running a business online is a very public endeavor, and it differs from running businesses in the past in that you can't just hide behind your storefront or LLC. These days, people want to know exactly who they're dealing with, and social media marketing works best when there is a face and a name. So you steel yourself and start making your... It's easy to become married to the work of building your online business, and in one sense, this is as it should be. Building anything from the ground up takes work and dedication, especially if like many fledgling entrepreneurs you are trying to budget your money wisely and do many things yourself. But the impulse can become detrimental. Many times you are so busy working in the trenches that you can't see or don't have... Continue Reading

I've been a fan of The Panera Bread Company for years. They have many tasty menu items that I enjoy. But this winter they introduced a Chicken Bacon Dijon sandwich that quickly became my new favorite. It's a grilled chicken panini with bacon and a sweet honey Dijon dressing. Add a bowl of chicken noodle soup to the deal and I'm a happy man. I walked into the restaurant this week, my appetite anticipating a... Continue Reading

With the advent of built-in webcams and the easy-to-use Flip camera, it's very easy to choose speed over quality in shooting videos these days. Who wants to worry about lighting and spend time setting up a shot when all you need to do is fire up your webcam, sit down, and start recording? It doesn't really matter if you've got a week's accumulation of Mountain Dew cans on the table behind you, does it... Continue Reading

There are lots of great things to say about being an Internet entrepreneur. You get to be your own boss, setting your own hours and working from home if you want. You get to define your own goals and connect your earnings directly to your efforts. And you get to be in full control of your life, instead of working a J.O.B. that you just can't stand. All of those things are true but there's... Continue Reading

Darren Rowse's blog at ProBlogger.net is always worth a read. He's a guy who's making a great income out of online publishing, and he's not afraid to share his knowledge. Recently, Darren put up a very interesting post about giving a second chance to old content. Sometimes, he points out, you'll put up a post that you're sure will get lots of traffic only to find that it dies away without doing anything special. There... Continue Reading

I was on the phone with Armand Morin last night, and I've been thinking about something he said ever since.
We talked about the great ebooks that are out there...
We talked about some of the cool software tools that are now available...
And of course, we talked about AdSense.
But here's what he said that stuck with me. Continue Reading

As you may know from my blog, I am currently attending Yanik Silver's Underground Internet Marketing Seminar in Washington, D.C. I'm meeting so many brilliant and fascinating people, and I'm constantly learning more about ways to grow my business, and ultimately help YOU grow your business online! Anyhow, I just got back from lunch at Subway. Subway is NOT my restaurant of choice. I ate there by default. You may like it, but it's blech... Continue Reading

The Democratic Party is in sad, sad shape. They have moved way to the left and are completely out of touch with mainstream America. However, with the exception of the liberal wackos who actually believe in the socialist mumbo-jumbo, the vast majority of Democrats really don't know the people they are voting for. They are content to believe the lies spoon-fed by the liberal media. While George W. Bush is not all I hoped he... Continue Reading

We did not want to go through the trial of commuting into NYC again today, so we took it nice and easy. We opted for a leisurely lunch at the food court at the mall, the kids did their schoolwork and I had a little playtime on the computer. I haven't said much about Socrates in my blog, but he is having a great time "running with the pack". He's a good dog, except when... Continue Reading
