When was the last time you read a press release? Let's face it. The majority of press releases issued by companies are totally boring and uninteresting. Why is that? Certainly Company X is excited about their new product and they can't wait to tell the world about it. But why should a blogger or media outlet care about Company X's new product or service? This blog gets read by thousands of people each day. Yet only a handful of visitors ever leave comments. Response rates are typically low because most of us are very busy, or we don't feel compelled to share our opinion. I understand because I rarely leave comments on other people's blogs. I just enjoy reading them and moving on. I would like to see a change in that today because I am going to ask... Continue Reading

I seem to spend a lot of time on the road these days. I've been up and down the country, backwards and forwards, and from state to state. I've even been to the other side of the world and back. It's hard work, with lots of jet-lag and too much time away from my family. That always hurts. But I enjoy it. I like speaking. The people I meet at events and conferences tend to... Continue Reading

I'm at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City, getting ready to make the trek home to Colorado after a week of visiting with family and friends. Ack! It was the only word uttered by Bill the Cat of Bloom County fame. If you don't know who I am referring to, here's a quick refresher course. And I can't believe that I blew it by not... Continue Reading

Like most things on the Internet, marketing can be divided into two distinct periods: Before Google and After Google. Before Google, getting a link to your site on other sites took a huge amount of work. You'd have to write to each publisher separately. You'd have to try different CPC networks until you found one that worked for you. And you'd have to create a new Web page just for reciprocal links. After Google... well... Continue Reading

A few years ago I purchased a site called Funstarters.com. It is nothing more than fun pages with entertaining, sentimental and humorous sayings, highlighted with images, animations and music. Tonight, I finally got around to putting it together and getting all the pages online. It's good clean fun!
