Over the past couple years, information marketers have come under greater scrutiny by the United States Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has taken several companies and individuals to task for deceptive Internet marketing practices. As the largest seller of information products online, Clickbank.com is now issuing clearer guidelines for the types of products and/or marketing practices that will be more closely scrutinized going forward. In other words, they are going to be working harder to... Continue Reading

A few years ago I heard people in the Internet marketing circles talking about "The Secret." I was told it was an amazing film featuring successful people demonstrating a "law of the universe" that had been hidden from the majority of mere mortals. Starring in this film based on a book by Rhonda Byrne were such people as Joe Vitale, James Arthur Ray, Michael Beckwith, David Schirmer and Bill Harris, among otthers. I decided to... Who doesn't dream of the extraordinary feeling of taking to the air like a bird? While that sensation can only be simulated in this life, we are fortunate to live in a time where air travel is commonplace. But even though people CAN fly, I think it is safe to say that I will never pilot an aircraft. I am forever relegated to passenger status. However, one of the earliest computer games I ever played... (Written by guest contributor Mark Widawer) With so many people getting into online marketing as a way to avoid having a J-O-B, they're wondering exactly what kind of online career they should get into. When they start thinking about ebooks, they often think that maybe it's too late to get into ebook marketing, or that there aren't any good topics left to write about, or that they're not smart enough or expert enough to write... (Written by guest contributor Loral Langemeier) Most people aren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth; the truth is very few experience that luxury. Many people opt for settling with the average life, being "gainfully employed." Most buy a home, raise a family, pay into a 401K and get in and (if they're lucky) out of debt. Sound familiar? If it does, you're in a lifestyle cycle -- meaning you tend to struggle your... Continue Reading

Last week the FTC dropped a bomb on the marketing world. They released new guidelines for the use of testimonials and endorsements in marketing. I immediately contacted my attorney, Kevin Houchin, to get his take on the latest guidelines. With Kevin's permission, I am republishing the entire text of his interpretation. It is essential that all marketers, online and offline, pay attention to this content. And understand that if you have ANY questions, you should... Continue Reading

Apart from Twitter's own terms of service which prohibit obvious things like harassment, transmitting viruses and spamming other members, there really aren't many rules to the site. You can essentially use Twitter however you like. However, for people and businesses who want to use Twitter successfully (eg: build a following and grow their circle of influence), there are a number of best practices that can be observed. I cover many of these in my book... Continue Reading

It's been assumed that the more followers you have on Twitter, the more power you have. However, I think true Twitter power comes from the ability to have your followers follow your links. That's why I am not using TinyURL to shorten my urls any more. I am using Twitpwr.com. Dan and I discussed this new site on Joel Comm LIVE! today. We also answered questions and revealed our new iPhone application. Watch the replay... Continue Reading

What would you say if I told you that you can boost your profits by typing just 140 characters? (That's about the length of this paragraph.) If you're smart, you might say "Which ones?" If you're really smart though, you'd say "I know." That's because the power of Twitter isn't a secret any more. CEOs are using it. Bloggers are using it. Marketers are using it. Everyone's using it (including me) and not only are... Continue Reading

Here's a cool find.
Do the books your fellow countrymen are reading indicate which way their vote may be leaning?
You'll be fascinated as you explore Amazon's Election 2008 Interactive map.

I need to back up a bit because I left out Sunday from my journal. On Sunday, I spoke at Chris Howard's "Ultimate Wealth Symposium" on the grounds of the Sydney Olympic Park. I had a fantastic time sharing my story with 800 or so people. I've got to say, the Aussies are a bit difficult to get moving, but I think everyone had a good time and learned a thing or two. I also... Continue Reading

I don't know where I'd be without joint ventures. I'd still have my AdSense income, which is nice, but I'd certainly be a lot poorer. I'd have fewer friends. And the people who acted on my recommendations would be a lot worse off too. Joint ventures are a vital part of my business. They should be a vital part of yours too. I still say that the best place to find joint venture opportunities is... Continue Reading

When you sign up to an ad program, one of the first decisions you'll have to make is where to put your units. Should you cram them into the sidebar? Place them above the fold? Embed them into the text? Or relegate them to the end of the page? Although there are some general guidelines you can follow, the best way to decide which are the best spots on your Web pages for your ad... Continue Reading

Did you know that I have been doing business online since 1995?
Many people assume that I came out of nowhere with my AdSense training materials, but the fact is that I've been online creating profitable websites for eleven years now! (Wow, has it been THAT long?)
One of the ways I generate revenue is with affiliate programs, that is, where I make a commission on products
that I sell for OTHER merchants... Continue Reading
