It was early September 2010. At over 225 pounds and sporting a size 40 waist, I decided it was time to make a change. After all, at 46-years old, I wasn't getting any younger. In order to hold myself accountable to my desire to get fit and lose weight, I went public with my goals. I wrote about the changes I would be making extensively on this blog. My first entry was posted 9/14/10. By... Continue Reading

On September 1st, 2010, I weighed in at over 225 pounds. I didn't step on the scale often because it wasn't very good news. My energy levels were low. My blood pressure was high. And I was moody. I didn't want to feel that way anymore. I had lost weight in the past, but I wasn't sure I could do it again. After all, I DID balloon back to my previous weight AND put on... Continue Reading

Yesterday I scared little children around the world with photos of me at 225 pounds. I did warn you beforehand, so please don't send me your psycho-analysis and therapy bills. For the past three months I have been on The Joel Comm Diet, which is not a diet at all. Instead it combines common sense with a plan that works for me. I am pleased to say that three months later I have lost 35... Continue Reading

I've been at Project Fit for about a month now. My goal has been to prove you don't need to go to extremes in order to lose weight and become healthier. There's nothing wrong with extreme exercising as it really can't do you harm. But there is a problem with extreme dieting. I don't want to be extreme in any way. After reading The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, I wanted to put his theories... Continue Reading

I collect old computer software. In fact, I've got a room in my basement that is packed with old games and applications... mostly games. It's also where I keep my treadmill, the only piece of exercise equipment that has been used again and again. As part of Project Fit, I want to show you where I exercise when the weather is bad. Take a tour of my exercise room and see some very cool old... Continue Reading

So you've got all these info-products you've bought but never used. Some of them you've never freaking OPENED. Here's a way to get back ALL the money you've invested... and feel immensely good about yourself. This is also a way to recoup your losses if you've gotten caught on the latest guru product treadmill (they're only losses if you fail to do something with them). Continue Reading

It's been at least seven years since I have attended the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Since I was coming into town for the Affiliate Summit, I thought I'd come to town a day early and enjoy free entry as a member of the press. It took little arm-twisting to convince my good friend, Dave Taylor, to join me on this excursion. Continue Reading

I decided to go check out the new Aspen Athletic Club that is opening just 1.5 miles away from our house. Mary and I have been talking about joining a club for a while, so I thought I'd stop be on my way to work. The actual club is still being built, but they have a temporary facility set up where they can sell memberships. I don't like long sales pitches and I had more... Continue Reading

Get on the treadmill. You are getting fat again.
Don't get too addicted to Star Wars Galaxies, even though your character is starting to rock. Oh, and watch out for wamprats.
Work smart. Accomplish something.
Remember to floss.
Try not to embarrass yourself.
In case you were thinking about piercing your tongue, don't. The side effects seem to be getting worse. Continue Reading

Well, I ended up losing 5 pounds last week. I think I hit my first plateau and I'm fine with that. Ended up pigging out on Chinese food over the weekend. I even had a friend egg-roll. Yum! I am back on track this week and hope I can ditch an additional 5 pounds. Thanks to those of you who have encouraged me with your comments. I am walking on the treadmill an hour a... Continue Reading

Staying on track with a pound a day. It sure sounds tempting to go get some pizza. Instead, I'm going to mow the lawn and hit the treadmill. Continue Reading

... and counting. I know I can't keep up with losing a pound a day, but it sure is fun in the early stages of weight loss! I'm getting ready to go hit the treadmill right now. I still haven't decided on a health club and intend to visit a couple more today. The kids and I are also going to see a movie this afternoon. Continue Reading

And so much to do... I just got off the treadmill. It's my goal to dump 20 pounds over the next 8 weeks. I guess I am keeping myself accountable by announcing that here. How will I do it? No special diet. No special pills. It's going to take self-discipline. Basically, eat less and exercise more. And it will take a little divine intervention as well, because I've got a sweet tooth as big as... Continue Reading
