(Written by guest contributor Chris Harper) When I was about nine years old, my parents won a drawing for a $1000 shopping spree at a local store in my hometown and decided to use the money to buy a camcorder. As I recall, there were only about six to choose from, and they all recorded onto VHS tapes. The only differences to consider were brand, size (though none were small), and ease of use. Needless... Live video broadcasts using Ustream and podcasts each have their pros and cons. I've had some experience with both, and I want to share with you what I see as the plusses and minuses of each. In the end, you can decide which method might be best suited for your needs. Continue Reading

I had the privilege of welcoming "The Queen of Facebook", Mari Smith, to my offices. She was in town to speak at the Northern Colorado Social Media Social, so we had an opportunity of spending the afternoon together before the event. Mari and I both purchased the newly-released iPad from Apple. We decided to do a live broadcast from my studio. In case you missed it, the replay is below. Not only did we discuss... Continue Reading

For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I co-hosted a live video stream every Wednesday at 11 am.
The show was called Joel Comm LIVE!.
For one hour we would discuss internet marketing, answer questions from viewers, welcome guests and be silly.
However, with my travel schedule becoming busier and busier, it became more difficult to pull off a regularly scheduled live program. Continue Reading

Joel Comm LIVE has been absent from the Internet since the spring. For over one year, Dan Nickerson and I welcomed guests to our program in a live format. We interacted with viewers, answered questions about Internet marketing, played with flying monkeys, read a number of humourous Top Ten lists and had a generally fun time. However, with my travel schedule being so heavy, I was unable to do the live program each week. And... Continue Reading

This week, I had the pleasure of being asked to speak to Microsoft employees on the subject of Twitter. Eckhart Boehme invited me to talk about how businesses are using Twitter, demonstrating that Microsoft is taking a very engaged position on social media. I was treated quite well by Eckhart and his team, and I met a number of very bright Microsoft people. The campus is ENORMOUS. I saw buildings numbered all the way up... Continue Reading

I've been a fan of UStream.tv ever since I discovered them a little over a year ago.
Every Wednesday, I do a live show with my co-host Dan Nickerson. It's called Joel Comm LIVE!
UStream has proven to be innovative as they continue to add cool features for broadcasters, including the ability to bring in co-hosts from other locations, add titles and also play YouTube or local videos within your program. Continue Reading

Wow.
I should probably just end the blog post with that one word, as I am speaking about Tweet-a-Thon 2009.
Just wow.
But you know I can't stop there!
It's the morning after. I am still exhausted. But I am basking in the afterglow of what I shall remember for the rest of my life. Continue Reading

When John Wiley & Sons asked me to write the definitive guide on using Twitter for business, I knew we would have a best-seller on our hands. The pre-orders on the book are strong and the buzz is spreading without me doing any real promotion. So I've decided to do something very special to celebrate the launch of Twitter Power. On Thursday, February 19th, I will be conducting the world's first live broadcast Tweet-a-thon! The... Continue Reading

Our company is serious about mobile marketing. From iPhone applications to text marketing, we're involved in developing products and services that leverage the power of mobile.
I recently spoke at JV Alert Live and discussed various mobile applications that we've developed in order to illustrate different mobile business models.
The session was broadcast live on Ustream.TV. The camera-man didn't do the best job of following me around, but you can enjoy the replay below. Continue Reading

I'm currently vacation in Dillon, CO with my family, staying at a friend's vacation home.
I walked outside and it was such a gorgeous day that I decided to do a spontaneous live show!
So from the Rocky Mountains, you can check out the replay now.
Watch for special appearance from Socrates the Philosopher Dawg. :-) Continue Reading

On today's broadcast Dan and I discussed the latest goings-on at InfoMedia HQ.
We messed around with the co-host feature of uStream.tv and found out how difficult it can be to have a discussion with a 20-second delay!
Dan created a new list featuring the top ten worst ideas for iPhone applications. It's funny stuff.
Watch the replay below and be sure to leave your comments! Continue Reading

He's been President for just twenty-four hours, but we're already seen a global impact.
On today's show we discussed the top ten signs that Obama is President. We also introduced our new Mobile Syndication Solutions service for those who want their own iPhone application.
I also have a new sound button to push, which makes Dan crazy.
All that and more on this edition of Joel Comm LIVE! Continue Reading

Today on the show, we celebrated the success of iFart Mobile, the #1 application in the iTunes iPhone app store.
The monkeys took over the set, we gave away prizes, gave demos of some apps and read a Top Ten list.
It was a fun time and I really appreciate those who join us each week for Internet marketing insanity! Continue Reading
