Why I Won't Be Starring in an Infomercial

Posted on September 1, 2010 7:02 AM

Earlier this year I received a Facebook message from a person representing a well-known author and speaker who has done quite well in the infomercial space. I was told their group was interested in meeting with me to explore the possibility of creating an infomercial that would feature me and teach people about the opportunity for making money on the Internet. Now I have received calls similar to this many times before. Usually it turns... Continue Reading

Mobile Web Optimization

Posted on June 1, 2010 3:20 PM

(Written by guest contributor Tim Golen) One thing is becoming increasingly clear: mobile web browsing is quickly catching up to and surpassing desktop browsing. With more people having access to mobile-enabled cell phones than computers, the number of mobile devices browsing the web is increasing at an enormous rate. Continue Reading

Mobile Browser Detection

Posted on March 16, 2010 3:07 PM

(Written by guest contributor Tim Golen) What if you could customize the content on your website based on which mobile phone visitors are viewing your site with? Could you increase your traffic? Could you increase the time your visitors stay on your site? Could you increase the amount of repeat traffic you see? Could you make more money? I'm sure you could do all of that! Let's take a look at what mobile browser detection... Continue Reading

When Times are Tough, Which Way Do You Go?

Posted on February 21, 2010 9:59 PM

We are living in challenging times. If you are not feeling the economic pinch, you at least know others who are. Some blame the politicians, both Republicans and Democrats. Others blame the legal system. And many wag their finger at corporations who have failed to serve the customer in lieu of their own desire to become wealthy. Regardless, the end result is that unemployment is up and more people are having a difficult time making... Continue Reading

What Do You Want?

Posted on February 2, 2010 8:09 AM

This blog gets read by thousands of people each day. Yet only a handful of visitors ever leave comments. Response rates are typically low because most of us are very busy, or we don't feel compelled to share our opinion. I understand because I rarely leave comments on other people's blogs. I just enjoy reading them and moving on. I would like to see a change in that today because I am going to ask... Continue Reading

Spread the Word with Add This

Posted on January 27, 2010 11:58 AM

One of the best things about the Internet is the speed and ease with which we can share the things that we find exciting, inspiring, or hilarious with other people. Social bookmarking and sharing tools makes this as easy as the click of a button, and quite frankly, if you are not already using content sharing buttons, you should be. After all, why wouldn't you want to make it as easy as possible for... Continue Reading

White Gold: How to Use White Papers to Build Your List and Explode Your Profits

Posted on December 21, 2009 1:34 PM

The first time I heard the term white paper, I have to admit I wasn't thinking it was a powerful marketing tool. Instead I was thinking of the boring, snooze-worthy reports I had to read in my college Geology course. Only after I had heard the term a few more times with increasing frequency did I finally bother finding out what the buzz was all about. Turns out, white papers aren't just bare bones... Leaving Australia

Posted on June 13, 2008 3:18 AM

At 10:30 am on June 12th, Mary and I checked out of the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney and made our way to the airport. Thirty-one hours later, we're finally home. We had a 3-hour layover in Fiji and a 7-hour layover in Los Angeles. So close, but yet so far! Anyhow, I didn't have problems with jet lag in Sydney, but everyone tells me it really hits when you get home. I can see that... Continue Reading

2007 - The Year in Review

Posted on December 29, 2007 7:05 AM

I'm at Will Rogers airport in Oklahoma City, getting ready to make the trek home to Colorado after a week of visiting with family and friends. I've had some time to reflect on the year and would like to take a stroll down memory lane. The year started with a crazy idea. I knew that others had dabbled with the idea of doing an Internet reality show, but no one had really taken the concept... Continue Reading

Making Videos

Posted on September 29, 2007 6:02 PM

I finally persuaded my mother to buy a video camera to take with her on her adventure travel excursions. She bit the bullet, got a Sony camcorder, and shot some video on her recent visit to Tibet. She has been visiting me this weekend, so I helped her make her first videos and get them uploaded to YouTube. Check out her YouTube Channel here. Continue Reading

The Grand Canyon Skywalk

Posted on March 9, 2007 7:31 AM

Last time I visited Arizona, I had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Canyon. Undoubtedly, one of the most moving experiences of my life, there is absolutely nothing on the face of the earth that compares to standing on the edge of the canyon face and looking down one mile into it's deep, deep enormity. It was an experience that actually moved me to tears. (Hey, when you spend the majority of your life on... Continue Reading

Stranded at Chicago O'Hare International

Posted on November 29, 2006 5:24 PM

I am blogging from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, where I am my family are awaiting an 8:55 pm departure to Oklahoma City. We've been here since 1 pm and our first flight was cancelled. With bad weather in Chicago and OKC, I'm not sure we're going to make it home tonight at all. Such is life, right? So I thought I'd make the best use of my time and write for a bit. In particular... Boys Ranch in Oklahoma

Posted on June 14, 2006 8:09 PM

About six years ago, I met a guy named Todd Vinson. Todd is one of the most incredible people I have met in my life because he has dedicated his life to serving others. In particular, he has a heart for helping teenage boys who are displaced or whose families are in crisis by providing a long-term home solution where they will be properly cared for. This happens at Willow Springs Boys Ranch in Chandler... Continue Reading
