My Weight Loss Journey - One Year Later

Posted on October 8, 2011 6:24 AM

It was early September 2010. At over 225 pounds and sporting a size 40 waist, I decided it was time to make a change. After all, at 46-years old, I wasn't getting any younger. In order to hold myself accountable to my desire to get fit and lose weight, I went public with my goals. I wrote about the changes I would be making extensively on this blog. My first entry was posted 9/14/10. By... Continue Reading

Shakeology

Posted on September 13, 2011 6:43 PM

One year ago today, I weighed in at 225 pounds with a 40-inch waist. With just a 5'10" frame, I was unhealthy and on the road to very bad things. Today, I am 170 pounds with a 32-inch waist. I've never felt better in my life. And people continue to ask me what plan I followed. It's simple. Eat less and move your body more. Common sense, right? However, there are some things I did... If I Was God

Posted on November 9, 2010 6:27 AM

What would you do if you were God? We're talking about the Supreme Being; the Almighty; the Alpha and Omega; the Big Cheese; the Head Honcho; the Man in the Sky. You get the picture. Many of us behave as though we are God. We erroneously think the world revolves around us. Trust me, I've been there before. But if you had all of eternity on your hands and were just hanging out by yourself... Continue Reading

The Law of Attraction is Nonsense

Posted on October 7, 2010 3:27 AM

A few years ago I heard people in the Internet marketing circles talking about "The Secret." I was told it was an amazing film featuring successful people demonstrating a "law of the universe" that had been hidden from the majority of mere mortals. Starring in this film based on a book by Rhonda Byrne were such people as Joe Vitale, James Arthur Ray, Michael Beckwith, David Schirmer and Bill Harris, among otthers. I decided to... Shakeology - I Drink My Breakfast

Posted on September 21, 2010 10:51 AM

Over the years I have tried a number of meal replacement drinks. I remember trying Aloe as a supplement back when Herbalife was new. Yuck. Couldn't stand the stuff. Then there was the protein drinks. Just mix with milk or water and its supposed to taste like a shake. Blech. Not so much. Of course, there are those who preach the "green" drinks. Why not swig a healthy helping of veggies for breakfast? Ick. Seriously... Continue Reading

Finding Inspiration in the Shower

Posted on September 20, 2010 8:26 AM

It's Monday morning and I am thinking about what I should write about today. As I ponder the things happening in my life, I consider my options. The new Twitter is coming. But I haven't seen it on my account yet, so that will have to wait. I'm a week into Project Fit, but I'm feeling kind of under the weather today. I've been invited to speak in Asia. It's exciting, but I don't think... Continue Reading

Be the Solution

Posted on August 25, 2010 3:18 PM

Lots of people who are just starting out with their online businesses are stymied by a question that is central to the endeavor: What should my online business be about? Since most people have money as one of their main motives, lots of people make the mistake of thinking solely along the lines of what they think will be most profitable. It's not that profitability is bad, of course, it's just that it may not... Continue Reading

How to Wait Tables - A Customer's Perspective

Posted on August 15, 2010 9:33 AM

I'm not a very good cook, so I tend to eat out a lot. I don't do a lot of fancy dining, but it's not unusual to find me and my family at a national chain or local diner. My experiences as a patron of restaurants has helped clarify what I believe makes a good waiter and what makes a bad waiter. Waiting tables is a difficult job. Hectic kitchens... unruly customers... angry cooks... wrong... Continue Reading

Combining Work With Pleasure

Posted on July 23, 2010 11:02 AM

When people dream about ditching the J.O.B. and working for themselves, they tend to focus on the good things. They see themselves taking time off whenever they want. They imagine themselves commuting from the main bedroom to the spare bedroom. They love the fact that their future is in their own hands. Continue Reading

Posted on March 11, 2010 2:43 PM

(Written by guest contributor Sarah Jane Griesemer) These days, there is a long list of ways to avoid having to talk to someone in person: email, Facebook, Twitter, chat, blogs, and text messages are just a few. With all these alternative methods of communication, why bother with real-life meetings at all?
