Voices of Iraq

democracy.jpgWhat would happen if you took 150 digital video camcorders to Iraq, handed them out to the people, and allowed them to film whatever they want?

You get a film titled Voices of Iraq, an independent film hitting theatres October 29th. The filmmakers wanted to let the Iraqi people create the content for a documentary that would allow people to see what life is really like for those living in this war-torn nation. The producers culled through over 400 hours of film in order to compile this documentary.

I can think of no better way to determine if our war in Iraq was a just war than to hear from the people who have had to deal with the aftermath.

Voices of Iraq is due to be released in DVD format concurrent with the theatrical release. I highly recommend a viewing for anyone who has not made the war in Iraq a primary issue in the 2004 Presidential Election.

What a great idea. It is a very fair way for people to see what life is like for Iraquis and also to see how they feel about our involvement there. I bet that there will be two sides to the story there too - and these people will have opinions that are fair about all facets of the US being in Iraq. I'm sure that most are glad that Saddam is gone, and rejoice they should, but I have already seen footage of Iraquis ( and not soldiers or terrorists ) saying that they are unhappy with the extent of involvement and don't feel enough is being done to rebuild a country that we destroyed. As I sad, both sides of the story. It should be interesting to see.

Does this movie really respresent a balanced picture of Iraq or is it a propaganda piece for GW's reelection? I have seen some reviews that suggest that the editing of over 400 hours of video makes this a GW ad.

I am shocked that Netflix sent me an email recommending this on DVD. They have never done that before. I think I'm going to quit. For a corporation to take sides and push an election ad just before the election is very unpatriotic. Guess they got some tax cuts.

This is a propaganda piece made by some puke at the PR firm Bush used to sell the war in the first place, which has also done a bunch of work for civilian contractors working over there.

DOn't believe me, look it all up. Start with their contact person Noah Rouen, who previously served as the vice-chair of Young Republicans
