Advertisers will compete to put their ads on your site.
And writers will volunteer to contribute content for free as a way to publicize their name and show off what they can do in front of lots of readers.
You'll be able to sit back and relax, at least a little, as your site continues to go from strength to strength.
It's a bit like driving a car. It takes a lot of effort to get it started but once you're chugging along in the fast lane, even if you lift your foot off the gas a little, you'll still keep moving at a fair rate.
Of course, you have to get there first. And that means optimizing your ads, writing quality content and bringing in users. Just be aware, as you're shifting up through the gears that the more your site grows, the easier it will be to keep it growing.

I guess it's about sowing what we would like to reap. If you want consistent success you've got to sow systems, (hey, that's a better s word) that will ensure the consistency you're looking for.
Staying at success is not as much work as getting there is what I hear you saying...IF we do what we need to do to get there in the first place.

It is actually as simple as you say Joel, the problem is most people want the big success and rewards straight up and aren't prepared to do the hard work to get there and they'll either try to buy their 'success' or they'll just build some spammy looking site that goes belly up within weeks.
That makes sense Joel. And I've seen it happen! I guess everyone wants a piece of you when you're doing good! Not so much when you're trying to get to that level. However, this is definitely a motivation to put in the work in the beginning, knowing that you'll continue to reap the rewards in the future.
The only place where diamons come before work is in the dictionary! You must in some way improve the visitors life to your website, you have to give before you can recieve!
Joel, Thats exactly what I want to happen on my blog/auction site.. I have been getting people in china showing up on my page somehow those search engines are tricky beasts. I get no love from google but lots of love from yahoo..
And adsense earnings are starting to look in the positive direction. I love how success builds more success.
I was just trying to watch the secret movie again but I get distracted and motivated and end up on sites like yours..
Joel, this reminds me of Zig Ziglar's example of priming the pump. You're pumping, pumping, it's hard work, you keep pumping...nothing, you keep pumping....suddenly, a trickle of water comes out, you keep priming that pump, and then, more water, and a gush...and then it's easier to keep the water coming, just a slow easy priming from time to time. Perseverance is key!
