Life has a way of just happening, and usually when we least expect it.
Sure, we can make plans. Sometimes those plans pan out. More often than not, things don’t turn out the way we expect.
If there is something we can be sure of, it’s that life is unpredictable and change is inevitable.
The past couple years have demonstrated my assertion to be accurate. With no help from our current President, I have recently experienced a great deal of change both personally and professionally.
As you’ve heard me say before, I got into this business in 1995. I’ve had a number of successes and failures over the years. I’ve traveled the world and have met may people. I’ve encountered honorable people online and I’ve had the displeasure of meeting my fair share of unscrupulous marketers. I’ve built sites and sold sites. I’ve made money and lost money. I’ve celebrated my successes and I’ve paid the price for my mistakes. Both extremes have been my teachers in the University of Life.
In 2010, I experienced a perfect storm in my life. It didn’t happen suddenly and I saw the signs. I was just very slow to respond to them.
A plan for transition was put into motion at that time. And while I didn’t know where I was going, I knew that I was transitioning to something new. As of this writing, I’m still not exactly sure what I am transitioning to. But I am increasingly aware that there never is a “going back” to the way things were before.
The purpose of Joel 2.0 is to explore the reinvention of myself, whatever form that might take.
Not only have I opened up my blog to guest article submissions, but I plan on using this platform to discuss the issues that are on my mind and heart.
In the past my writing has been tilted towards the online business arena. I am certain I will still have much to say in this space as I continue to use social media and develop my own opinions.
But there is a great likelihood that other parts of my journey will become more prevalent. Whether that be regarding matters of the body, soul or spirit, I will be sharing that which is of concern to me. I’ll be sharing a bit about the physical, emotional and spiritual change that has taken place, and continues to take place, in my life.
My purpose is the same as it has always been – to inspire, to teach and to entertain my readers and audience. The mission remains the same, though the message may sound different. I’ve no doubt that some will enjoy what I share and others may decide to never visit my blog again.
We can either resist change or we can embrace it. Joel 2.0 is all about embracing change and moving into the unknown with great anticipation and expectation (with just a little trepidation!)
As always, your interaction with my writing is of great importance to me. Your comments are welcome and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Feel free to use the form below and share your reaction to Joel 2.0.
