I'm going to try something new.
Typically, I write articles designed to inspire or educate. Occasionally I'll discuss a product or service I think you'll find valuable. And from time to time I share a little bit of my own life with you.
I have an idea for a weekly "roundup" of sorts that I'll use to discuss things that are happening with me, my business, in the industry or whatever else crosses my mind. It will be a sort of hodgepodge of info I find interesting. I hope you do to.
With no further ado, here's what's up...
We're posting new articles on TopOneReport.com every day. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, this should be a daily destination for anyone doing business online. It's pure, original content that you will find quite useful. A new piece from Loral Langemeier just went up today. It's called Train Your Brain to Gain
Want your own iPhone application? Apparently many people do! And with good reason. The iTunes AppStore is a hot property and people don't want to miss the App Train. MyAppCreator.com provides a solution that helps anyone build a fully-functional iPhone app without the huge programming costs. The Joel Comm app (iTunes link) is built using this platform.
I've been working with my editor at Wiley to get my next two books released.
Twitter Power 2.0 is heading to print and is due out this Spring. I've completely updated and revised this best-selling book to include the latest Twitter features, tools and business strategies. This will be a paperback edition and will retail for just $16.95. But you can pre-order on Amazon right now for just $11.53.
KaChing: How to Build an Online Business that Pays and Pays is in final edit and is due out in June 2010.
This book was written to show how anyone can create an online business centered on their passion, knowledge and skills. It then explains five key ways to make money online, including content sites, affiliate programs, coaching programs, member sites and information products. I've got a great idea for a promotion when the book launches. Stay tuned. (but go ahead and pre-order now if you like!)
It's been several weeks since Google Buzz launched. Honestly, I'm still not sure what I think. However, I will be releasing a report on the topic next weekj. There are pros and cons. I guess the future direction depends on how well Google will adapt to making changes that best serve the users.
I, for one, wish my TwitPic feed would work for images. Since that is where I upload my photos, its too bad that I am stuck with Flckr and Picassa. You can check out my Google Buzz here.
On an entertainment note, this is turning out to be a very entertaining season of Survivor. In the 20th season of voyeuristic delight, the producers have pitted ten of the most-loved past cast members against ten of the most-hated. It's called Heroes vs. Villains, and it is a guilty pleasure for myself and the Mrs.
And for the first time ever, I have decided to watch American Idol with my wife and daughter. It is incredibly disappointing. With all the talent in America, it's hard to believe this is the best they could find. Granted, there are a few really good vocalists. But for the most part I don't see much star power. Some of the contestants are just plain bad. And I must confess, I find a great deal of humor in the concept propogated by VoteForTheWorst.com. The maintain that the show is a farce to begin with and they encourage people to vote for the worst contestants so they will stick around and make the show more entertaining. Does the rest of American agree?
To wrap up, I'll be presenting at the Fort Collins Ignite this evening. For those who don't know, Ignite is an event that takes place at dozens of venues around the world in the same week. Presenters are given five minutes to share knowledge, information, humor and whatever else with the audience. They prepare twenty slides which automatically move forward every fifteen seconds. Their motto is "Enlighten us, but make it quick."
Tonight I will be speaking on the success of iFart Mobile, my iPhone application. The talk is titled "How iFarted and Came Out Smelling Like a Rose." It will be recorded, so I'll be sure to blog about it once it is available online.
I've never been limited to five minutes to speak before, so this should be interesting!
Until next time... do good stuff!

Congrats and good luck on the Twitter Power 2.0 release Joel. I only watch American Idol in the beginning of each season when the show the freaks. That is always so funny to watch. Some people are so strange that you actually wonder if they are for real or just trying to get on television by being a character. Best of luck Joel. I'm sure your new release will be a hit.
I guess I have two more books to buy!
