Cloning now a reality?

When I first saw the advertisement for the Godsend Institute, my first thought was “well that was only a matter of time”. Along with the smiling, happy faces appearing on the banner ad which I clicked on, the ad presented this text…

“When God fails you, come to Godsend. Cloning made simple”

The slick web site presents a company with a service on the cutting edge. The Godsend Institute has perfected the art of cloning human beings, replicating cells for the purpose of creating life from human life. They purport to have the ability to create a genetically identical fetus, supposing that a family who has lost a child would wish to have the same child reborn.

Dr. Richard Wells is the institute founder. He is hailed as one of the true visionaries in the field of fertility, and is widely considered to be the top genetic engineering researcher in the United States.

The site has more information on cloning, institute news, testimonials from happy customers and links to other cloning-related sites.

Is this another step down the slippery slope? Are we playing God? Does this demean human life? Or is it all a hoax or marketing gimmick?
