Help Name Our Kitten

My son has wanted a cat for a number of years. So when his 21st birthday arrived, I decided it was time to grant him his wish.

Zach located a kitten about ten days ago and brought her into our home.

She’s adorable. And she has immediately become a part of the family.

But there’s a problem. So far, we haven’t found a name that has stuck.

That’s where you come in…

Kitty is full of energy, talkative and playful. She has a knack for finding dangerous hiding places.

For example, she has repeatedly found entryways into our living room sofa. Not under. Not on. IN the sofa.

I have had to flip it over and duct tape it shut multiple times so she doesn’t get inside only to have someone sit on her and squish her furry little frame.

She likes to sit in front of the computer monitor. I’m glad I have a 30″ screen, but she will follow my cursor back and forth. Of course, she always blocks my way.

She also likes to journey back and forth from my lap to the monitor, cluelessly (or intentionally?) stepping on my keyboard. A little frustrating?

Still, she is adorable and little purr-monster. She loves to snuggle and be close to either myself or my son.

What do we name this wonderful ball of fur?

Watch the video, view the pictures and leave your suggestions in the comments field below.

I’m not saying we will choose from the names suggested, but you might come up with just the thing. Go fur it! (Get it? Go FUR it? See what I did there? I know, clever right? Em…er… ya…)

UPDATE! – As of March 2nd, the kitten has a name. Zach has decided on “Sprite”, as in the computer graphics usage and not the soft drink. Thanks for your suggestions!

  1. I LOVE Rich’s idea of ‘Click.’ Very clever!
My ideas are ‘Purry-Kitty’ and ‘Baby.’
Simple, I know. But those two came to mind when I saw her photos.
    She’s adorable… enjoy!

  2. Joel, there is clearly only one name that works: Cat Mandu.
Last year we were blessed with two of our own, from a litter of 6. And the winners drew their own names:
    Chairman Meow (half Siamese). And…
Tyrone Biggums (black as night, with a strategically placed patch of gray).
    Cat Mandu.
    He’s mysterious.
    Dangerous. And clearly talented.
And everyone wants to go there.
    (You can thank me later…;-)

  3. Ate – Greek Goddess of Mischief
Artemis – Goddess of Wild Things
    Fugazi – Vietnamese for Chaos
Xena – (remember the warrior princess?)
Lkaika – Hawaiian for The Brave One
Pyxie – Pixies are more mischievous than fairies.
    Enjoy!

  4. First name I came up with was Angelica…Course I do name most of my animals with a little tongue in cheek 😀 But then again, she looks like a little gnome or elf (and seems to have the attitude as well) so what about Nissa (means sprite or friendly elf)

  5. Pax. Doesn’t ring so smooth at first. But it does mean Peace. And I’ve been told animals respond well to one-syllable names. “C’meer, Pax c’mon kitty kitty.” I can here it. Peace. xx

  6. I’ve had cats all my life and I’m now 65.
Two of those cats, between them, lived for 39 years.
When the first one died, then we named the second after her.
I no longer have any pets, but would like the name to live on in another cat.
MUFFIN is my offering to you and your son.
